Remember my old dad mentioning that him and George were big mates, and he visited his house on London Road on a number of occasions.

| As Lefty suggests, he did carry a bit of pub team timber back in the day. Remember he and Andy Holbrook being in the bar at Warrington RUFC on Bridge lane after the pubs shut at 3pm on the day of Charles and Diana's wedding.

| It's very quiet on the forum, so here is another question for the oldies;
I was recruited from Pilkington Recs where I played hooker.
My first game was an away defeat at Oldham.
During my Wire career I scored 130 tries.
When I left Warrington I played briefly for Saints and then Rochdale.
Who am I ?

| I thought I might have fooled you with the hooker reference but I suppose the try tally must have given it away.

| Here's one for you old crusties. Looking for the name of a hooker from the 50/60's. A Hooker of Irish extraction. He was a miner from Golborne. He was rarely beaten for possession at the scrum either with or without the head. Although a master hooker he was absolutely hopeless in the loose. I remember a match at Wilderspool he found himself in the unusual situation of being over the opposition try line with the ball in hand and had to be told to put the ball down. I think it might have been the only try he ever scored.

Quite correct sir...Here's an easier one. He was part of the Wire pack in the 70's. Like myself he was from Earlestown. We were in the same class at secondary school and as young lads sometimes do I challenged him to a fight after school. During the day I learned he was a boxer representing the Sea Cadets and had a somewhat ruthless streak so I withdrew my challenge, discretion being the better part of valour. In his autobiography he tells the tale of how he supplemented his pocket money. He and a mate(not me) would steal pies from a local shop and sell them to workers at the gates outside the Carriage and Wagon works in Earlestown...He was quite a character and a good friend of AJ Murphy.

Brian Pitchford and Doug Hoyle for sure
Bob Anderton was secretary not Chairperson, might have been same role back in the twenties/thirties.
Can’t corroborate Philip Worthington, If he was he must have been before Ossie Davies.
1.
2.
3.
4. Ozzie Davies
5. Brian Pitchford
6. Peter Higham
7. Doug Hoyle
8. Steve Broomhead
9. Stuart Middleton
Number 3 is of the same surname as one of the others named.
Number 2 had a pre season trophy named after him, so to speak
