Just because some guy hasn't posted on a thread for a few weeks... Maybe he's busy with real life or realised there's actually more to life than spending hours of his time each and every week collating stats for a few trolls to dispute and argue over every time.
There's nothing stopping anyone else updating the thread with recent attendance info.

I delivered the first few weeks attendances (and by the way they are still up on last year) and received barely any replies - an awful amount of work for something people aren't interested in. I note that the likes of you and W. Eve return again when there are a poor set of crowds. Along with most other rugby league fans I have no interest in this forum anymore as it is overrun with doom merchants and trolls.
Had a great day despite Saints' loss yesterday - was a great atmosphere at a sold out Langtree Park. When was the last SL game you took in live Gutters?

If their was a good attendances on a Friday he would wait until all the weekend games to post the full list of attendances so it could get mixed in with the ones that had big drops. Whereas it the attendances on Fridays were poor he'd race on here shortly around 10pm that night to post them on their own.

Nothing like a good drama queen is their. One poster got bored keeping up with his thread when another person didn't and it's a cover up of truth and honesty in your eyes LOL

Are they?
Would you be willing to back that statement up with some actual evidence?
Reason I ask for the evidence is because when totalled up, none of the attendance figures published by the official Superleague website, the RFL website, Skysports, Loverugbyleague and Sportinglife show that SL attendances are up on last season. My attendance figures do not either.
Would you care to provide your total SL attendance figures in order to back up your assertion that SL attendances are currently up on last season?
I am particularly interested in your attendance figures for the following fixtures...
Round 1: Hull V Catalans
Round 3: Bradford V London, Catalans V Leeds
Round 6: Catalans V Huddersfield
Round 9: Warrington V Widnes

| RU average attendances down by about 500 per club on last season
Championship football down by about 1000 per club on last season
RL changing weekly, might be up but may well be down. TBC in October.
Anyone would think there was some kind of recession on or something..

Waving a flag in favour of one dodgy reported attendance ending in a nice round number (10,750) over the other multi-reported dodgy attendance ending in a nice round number (10,500) doesn't render it more authoritative.
Given the reported attendance of 11,550 for the Warrington V Wigan game in Round 6, it is to be hoped that this isn't the start of a trend of reporting dodgy "Catalanesque" type attendance figures at the Halliwell Jones.

Ah....indeed. TBC in October, but the point of the Original Poster starting this thread was to counter young Billy's 2013 thread, which showed with some accuracy how attendances were tracking per round, per club, per fixture and for the season.....this enthusiasm has somewhat waned it would seem since the 12% spike at the start has slowly, but assuredly been eroded over the subsequent 8 weeks.
Quote ="loiner81"Anyone would think there was some kind of recession on or something..

...and they'd be wrong if they did. Britain is out of recession and whilst nobody is claiming everything is rosy, there is more cash out there than there was back in the dark days.
Personally, I miss the updates, regardless of if they are up, down or exactly the same. They highlight the good work being done at some clubs in regards to trying to attain self sufficiency, whilst underlining that other clubs need to work much harder. This round that has just passed was the "derby round", which traditionally delivers one of the biggest attendances of the season....This year it delivers 60,012 (SPORTING LIFE ATTENDANCES) whilst last year it delivered 80,429. But...the corresponding fixtures last year only delivered 55,814, so this year is actually 7.5% up on last years corresponding fixtures with the correct home and away teams, but 25.4% down on the 1st round of Easter fixtures.
There are a number of factors to explain this, not least that Wigan, Hull FC and Leeds were away this year, Wakefield having a limit in place, London being even a bigger basket case than ever before.... and this is why Billy's 2013 thread was useful. It highlighted all of these facts.
Alas, now all we get are sweeping statements that 2014 is ahead of 2013, but no factual documentation or statistics to back it up. A quick glance at the SL Wikipedia page for 2014 also sees the updating has dried up, so maybe the author of that is the same as the OP here?
Anyway...corresponding fixtures for this coming round, last year delivered 72,320 attendees, whilst the 2nd round of Easter fixtures in 2013 saw 57,882 take in the action across the 7 games.
I really hope either the OP comes back or Billy updates this thread......it is important, because next year there will be a massive increase in the average attendances od SL and every tom, dick and harry will fancy themselves an expert

Which kind of begs the question... why do certain people make such a big deal of SL attendances being slightly down some weeks? The fact that they're actually up overall so far this season should be the big talking point. While other sports are losing fans our sport is growing and that should be shouted from the rooftops.

Well no, because the person above meant consumer confidence, not recession (and to be fair, they generally go hand in hand) - and consumer confidence has only just (as in literally in the last month) risen to pre 2008 levels. If you regionalise the statistics, and correlate the "core" rugby league community, there's still quite a way to go before consumer confidence is near the levels it once was. Therefore, wide economical factors can still be taken into consideration - but not as severally as recent years - hence, to keep in line with economical figures a small 1-5%* increase should be expected - a drop this year would indicate the sport under performing commercially (without considering any other factors that might be taking place)
*note I haven't done the figures properly! merely roughly in my head.

Indeed...yet the OP seems to have gone very quiet and nobody seems keen to take up the mantle.....which is a pity.
On the topic of recession......I didn't say all was well, I simply pointed out that the country isn't in recession.....

Fair enough....but I responded to a comment about recession.
I put a Brentford property on the market in 2008 and got not 1 enquiry in 2008....12 months, not a tickle. I put the property on the market in November last year, had 16 viewings on day 1 and had exchanged and completed by December 20th for 19% more than I was asking in 2008.....the corner is being turned.

Indeed it is, and it's a fascinating story into why and what is causing that change in direction - certainly a very swift and directive move in the London area overcompensates for a lag in the rest of the country (which is tied to the property market in London - which in turn is to do with the downturn in the value of bullion gold and it's long term outlook - but that's a whole other debate for another day) - which is why I started the analysis of regionalised statistics
But as you say, that's not to say there isn't an increase country wide (which there is in everywhere except some parts of Scotland iirc)

| One thing I will say is that the official stats this year have been dodgy across the board.
Anyone who takes a look at the average gain etc for the players in their own side will have seen several weeks where this has not been done correctly.
There was an attendance figure attached to 3 different games over a 2 week period.
The low attendance at bradford was tweeted but not published. Is this a case of attendances not matching sales??? ie 5k attended but add in season ticketers who did not turn up and the ticket sales made another figure.
It's one thing to put up attendances, I would have no problem doing this myself up or down, but if the usual sources are not reliable then what are we to do. Even I would get fed up with William questioning the figures I used each week. I'm sure Catalan went with one match having 3 differing attendances. Well it's not the OP's fault or who evers fault if the independant reporters can't get the figures right.
I think this also cross into the southern hemisphere this season too as there were questions at one point over meters made by burgess and another player ( I forget who)
I'd be happy to put up a set of figure, but I'm not going to spend hours arguing with William over whether the source is correct or not. If I take them on good faith then that is it, I would not be picking and choosing for any purpose other than to put up the figures.
If I get a moment in the next few weeks I will bang em up and catch up. but quite simply I will be going with just the weekly rounds ie round 1 v round 1. I'm not going to look for equivalent fixtures as come the end of the season they all even out. An I would probably exclude the MM weekend given the arguments over double headers in the WC and just treat it as a stand alone fixture set against last years stand alone fixture.

Anyway as a summary so far
Total attendances 2013 534928
Total attendances 2014 531561
Per fixture 2013 8769.311
Per fixture 2014 8573.565
2013 is currently behind by one fixture.
