Hull KR averaged 3500 in NL1 and are now over 8000 in SL.
Fax are 2500 in NL1 so id say they would get well over 5500 in SL, especially if they had as much time as wakey and were coming 5th. the shay is a better ground than belle vue, even if the east stand isnt finished.

Hull KR are also in a massive city with a lot of fickle fans who came out the woodwork on the back of promotion. Not only that, but they also had a lot of deserters who remember the history of Hull KR as a club. There is no wonder they average that. They should.

in SL i think :
1. widnes - 7000 minimum.
2. toulose - 7000 +
3. gateshead - 5000 - 8000
4. halifax - 5000 - 7000
etc.

I am quite confident we will end up over 6k by the end of the season.

widnes and halifax have a lot of history too.
when gateshead were in SL they got around 3000 which was close to the average back then. the SL average is now 9000 or so, so im thinking they should at least get 6000 +.
being in SL clubs have more money for marketing, they get more media and the away support is a hell of a lot bigger.
adding 3000 + fans isnt that hard, especially under franchising where clubs have 3 years to grow their crowds rather than facing relegation 1 year after being promoted, undoing all the hard work

But then you could compare Salfords average last season and this and they haven't made any great leaps (yet before anyone says!)
But the only way we will ever know what teams will get in a certain situation is if they are there, every club will have too many varying factors for people to try to guess imo.

1. Widnes - in SL pushed between 6k and 6.8k, without showing any real major increases or decreases. They may just scrape over the barrier into 7k this time, but I cannot really see them developing an higher average with much bigger clubs nearer such as Warrington.
2. Toulouse - No chance. They will never get 7k. Require a few years in the National Leagues first, and need a lot of off-field work to do.
3. Gateshead? They barely get 900 in NL1. SL status may bring in more, but can't see them getting above 3k tbh.
4. Fax are a tricky side. They've got a very stable fanbase, and they may get over the 5k barrier.

First ever superleague game Widnes achieved 8,900 and other attendances that season exceeded 9,000. Shame we couldn't push on after our first season but even in our last year when we were relegated we averaged just under 7000.
Any one know what gateshead achieved many years ago when they were in SL?

| We should only be admitting teams that have got a realistic chance of getting 7-9,000. That should be our min standard we are aiming for imo.

What did we average in the first year of SL? must have been close to the 8k mark.
Get 3 years behind us in SL and i believe we could exceed at least 8-9k average if not more.

They were awfull - but the team we had at the time was made up of players brought up through the academy and a couple of expierenced (but not very good!) pros. Surely thats what licences are all about? Bringing players through the youth system without the threat of relegation?

being in yorkshire they will get much more away support than salford.
its all opinions and im sticking with mine.
just the games against leeds and bradford will be massive.
and the shay is a far better ground than the willows which will attract both away and home fans.

| Quote ="gutterfax"The point is (and don't get me wrong here) the game has moved on and a fair amount of the Widnes fans from the 70's will have too (RIP). It has taken a good few years for those clubs in SL that get acceptable crowds to get to that stage and the same will happen to widnes when they come up in 2012. '"
Spot on on both points. All clubs have to work on bringing in new fans to replace the current set. It's very noticeable at say Rochdale or Hunslet where I'd say most fans are a generation older than the players with very few kids & teens present.
I don't think Widnes will get regular 10k+ crowds without a lot of work. Just pointing out that it's a perfectly reasonable 2-3 year goal to set the club's marketing team, which doesn't require them to make big inroads into Liverpool, North Wales & South Cheshire.
