| Quote ="Nothus"Curious to see the outcome of the decision today. SL clubs might not like Toronto but kicking them out essentially will cost each of them about £200k in funding, assuming they are replaced with a side that will demand the same central funding distribution as the other 11 SL clubs.
Do they all hate Toronto enough to give up £200k?'"
Doesn’t save the SL clubs anything, TWP’s ‘we’ll be back for 2021’ is only if they get ‘their share’ of the SKY TV money.
There is absolutely no chance of RL breaking the NATV market with TWP as if after three years and the signing of SBW it’s not happened it never will...

His shares will be worth roughly a burger and fries and his fat contract null and void Watkins, Myler,Flower and Ward all looking for new team 2021?
How can these signings have been made whilst not paying current squad?
Again it's not a new situation and the whole model was bust before Covid

Toronto do want a share, but Niel Hudgell has been quoted saying they signed an agreement stating that they would be self funding in perpetuity. Sounds messy to say the least.

| Quote ="Donnyman"When TWP came into the league they were flagged in by Nigel Wood. IIRC Nigel Wood never asked Superleague if they were OK with this, and I certainly don't recall them taking any SKY funding as [uall of that was fully allocated[/u. I have the allocations which Martyn Sadler set out.
Of course Catalans got a slice of the pie, they were invited straight into Superleague when Richard Lewis wanted them to underpin the French national team. They were "wanted" and Superleague conceded International Rugby League was more important than Superleague. So SL & RFL conceded TV money to them.
"Guest clubs" differ wildly, one was asked to join the party because it was thought they would re-kindle GB.v.France Internationals like the day in 1990 when the French came to Headingley and beat Great Britain
The other "guest club" were only guests of the Championship, and Supeleague were not even asked if they wanted them. Superleague bosses made it clear in articles by Pearson and McManus they did not want them but they struck a deal when the RFL conceded the end of the middle eights and the MPG in return for TWP being allowed to go up within the current SKY contract. But NO Sky money.....Again Perez had conceded this and said once he got an NATV mega deal TWP would keep that and not share it here.
Elstone of course tried to get a better French TV deal but the idea he scuppered it by "asking for more" is like something out of Charles Dickens novel. Everyone asks for more in contract talks. That the deal got pulled is because the TV company didn't even want to carry on the existing deal.
No need for this "[iRobert Elstone ate my Hamster" [/istuff.
Bottom line - Catalans don't develop players and don't bring in any TV money. Sounds like a club we know don't they?? Catalans do spend all their money on a Marquee player instead. Sounds like a club we know don't they? The danger is Catalans go 2022. Gausch hasn't been seen at any SL meetings this year so go figure...'"
Cut the smoke screen stuff, about Catalan developing players, it's tiresome.
Regarding Elstone scuppering the TV deal. Only he and his negotiating team know the ins and outs of what happened.
However, there was a deal on the table, which Catalan were happy to take but, he and his team demanded more.
Whether it was an "Oliver Twist" moment, who the hell knows.
The one absolute certainty is that, walk away they did and now there is zero French TV deal, something that Catalan seemingly shouldn't be blamed for.
As to the amounts and time that Catalan should spend on player development.
Unless there is something written in black and white on a contract about their obligations, despite your displeasure, there is no case to answer.
Just for balance, which SL club gives a damn about improving England's chances of toppling the Aussies.
All of them are primarily bothered about themselves and our international record speaks for itself. Perhaps best not to mention the recent GB tour down under.

It's mickey poor that they can abandon contracted players.
Surely, they are, unless otherwise agreed, obliged to pay the contracted salaries ?

| Releases his media splash of offering 10 million worth of shares the moment he finishes his presentation demanding full share of funding and before any conclusions can be made? The Momentum type pro Toronto vocal minority place their Dollars blindly into the fund and if Toronto are denied funding and/or expelled then he walks away blaming everyone but his crazy idea and the usual suspects scream Flat Capper,M62 Corridor ad infinitum. Meanwhile all the financial guarantees and assurances given to ensure admittance are washed away and the grand plan is achieved. Donald Trump school of business 101. If he does run rings round the other Chairmen then they deserve it.

Plus access the Sky monies. It will be a great con if succeeds.
Once they were admitted they instantly became hard to remove even when not fufillling one promise and not paying players/suppliers etc.

Hi Wayne......
https://www.newwestrecord.ca/future-of- ... 1.24173120
[iMajority owner David Argyle, for whom the Wolfpack have been a labour of love, says the ownership group has invested $30 million into the franchise since its inception in 2016. Most of that came from Argyle, a Toronto-based Australian mining and natural resources entrepreneur, with help from "shareholders, friends and family."[/i
mh.com.au/sport/nrl/wolfpack-billionaire-in-mix-for-share-as-storm-change-ownership-model-20200220-p542qn.html
[iMelbourne Storm has radically changed its ownership structure, with majority shareholder Bart Campbell halving his stake and negotiations opening with David Argyle, the billionaire mining magnate owner of the Toronto Wolfpack, to take a share[/i.
I read it up (no I didn't make it up) that Argyle reckons the $30 Million he has sunk into wolfpack was all he and his family could afford. If he's worth a $Billion at least he still has $970 Million spare. So what is going on? Well I read it up (no I didn't make it up) that Argyle is taking his $Billions to Melbourne Storm. Do me a favour mate. Look these things up for yourself so you can see the reality

| Breaking News Statement from Super League
Following Toronto Wolfpack’s withdrawal from Betfred Super League 2020 earlier this week, the Super League Board agreed this afternoon that the club’s record for this season should be removed.
Points earned in matches involving Toronto Wolfpack will be deducted, and for and against tallies will be adjusted accordingly.
Individual players’ statistics will remain unaffected - but Man of Steel points earned in fixtures involving the club will be erased.
Super League and The RFL Board will now give further consideration to Toronto Wolfpack’s future ahead of the 2021 season.

Well Wayne is on toast yet again, but the more important thing is the truth and the facts. As a Billionaire, $$30Million was nothing to Argyle, but if that is how much it costs to get a Transatlantic NA team into Superleague just to come rock bottom then what would it have took to see them carry on for several seasons more to try to establish themselves, let alone 20 seasons more to establish a Canadian grass roots game and player development? Now that IS about a $$Billion dollars.
It begs the question, posed when Wilby and Perez turned up with no rich owners in tow launching New York and Ottawa. If their clubs are treading the same pioneering path good old David Argyle trod they need to find people to give them $$ tens of Millions with no prospect of return. Anyome want to answer that one? Having tracked David Argyles spend and return at Toronto which North Americans would throw oceans of money down the drain for a game foreign to them?
Wayne's a great bloke I am sure, but some of the people promoting these phoney clubs in the RL press should know better and should have called it all out for exactly what it is..............................Oh sorry for exactly what it was. It was a bit of fun for Argylle and Perez whilst melbourne Storm or another NRL club gave Australian RL fan and $$Billionaire investor David Argyle his real dream. A place on the board of an Australian NRL club.

Thats what owning a sports club is like isn't it? There aren't too many making cash out of it in RL, and the only return for some is a day out at Old Trafford or Wembley.

It's interesting to read that there may be a short term NRL deal put to SBW for the some part of 2020. I thought that SL rules had stopped the practice of Australians who had finished their season then plying their trade over here. So how come it would work the other way round?

It's covered in detail in the article Davidson reports on. Truly the Smoking Gun and strips what little credibility today's charade presentation had. Game Over
