This thread started with a title of soaring attendances, however when there’s a dip, the information appears dry up.



Leeds usually wallop the S.L whipping boys, yet last season the attendance was over eighteen thousand.

It almost seems like teams who are going well are seeing a good rise in attendance, and those who should be going well but aren't are seeing fans fall off ...

This time last year Leeds played London with 12,000 in attendance.

The 18k attendance you're talking about vs Wakefield was played on a red hot July evening and the crowd was boosted by 1000s of free tickets going out to local schools.

So what the real problem is, is that you can't do any real kind of comparison until the end of the season as no 2 rounds are the same year on year. Not that that will stop the toilet twins creaming their knickers every time a club like Leeds shows any kind of drop.

Looking well over £100 a week for a standard family at most SL games.

But my point is theres no buzz factor in SL hence why people are avoiding games.

Over 9500 today to watch catalan v widnes, wouldnt expect more than 500 from the visitors so that is a great effort from the french fans against a less glamorous opposition, no offence to the widnes team or fans. I wonder if it would be worthwhile moving the majority of catalan games to mid afternoon starts

Correct. Sooner you retreat to the safety of the M62 the sooner those major sponsors and the hoards of pit village will return! I reckon the RFL should bung Bradford another £700,000 to make sure a club with a smaller average come down with us

London where not always an embarrassment, but in recent years (3 or 4) they just seem to have been backsliding to a greater degree than most.

I've always liked them as a club, but clubs needs to be heading to minimum of 5k fans, not down to1k.

They have always held their own so far, but I am hopeful of their return.

Not mine, but those in the lower league have been calling for it for years. With p+r the only criteria of judgement is on field performances, and London (up until this year) have "held their own" by never finishing bottom.

But thats the point, for the last 6 years we've not had that as the criteria, so wether they finished bottom or not wasnt relevant, outside of that, they have been pretty poor, therefore not really ' holding their own ' , all IMO of course

London announced 1,002 for Thursday.....I've yet to hear anything from London fans who were there that points to the actual attendance being over 800. It seems that because Barnet FC members were invited to attend FOC, they were counted in that announced figure......the demise of the club is quite alarming now and I suspect the drain will continue all year. Hughes needs to declare his intentions NOW for 2015 in the Championship, because with the best will in the world, they are relegated already and they need to plan now.

The Warrington attendance was up on the crowd for the same game last year.
The crows at Bradford was down about 2000.
The crowd at Saints was up over 2000.
The crowd at Rovers was up almost 1500.
The crowd at Salford was up over 2000.
The crowd at London was down (no surprise there!)
The crowd at Wakey was down but it was a sell out due to the reduced capacity.

Not all doom and gloom really.

10,197 at Hull KR. 1,321 up on same fixture last year.

Nobody said this round was a bad one....but the thread seems to only be updated by it's author when the results are positive. Billy claims his attendance thread was locked and therefore has decided not to bother, but I suspect if the positive news police continue to neglect this thread, he may be forced to make a return

...if they can keep that level of growth up then they'll be up near 10,000 by the 2016 season. I hope they use the visit of London and Catalans to really promote the venue and matches as a viable option for spending disposable income....it's how some of the bigger clubs utilise these games where the crowd will always be smaller. Showcase the facilities....with the added bonus v London of a cast Iron guaranteed win

And yet the Bad News Police are out in force with their troll-like behaviour given the slightest sniff of negative RL news "oh look, an attendance ending in a zero, fix!".

Who can blame RL fans bigging the game up after 100's of pages of drivel during last season and the RLWC. Lets just enjoy the game ffs.
