Not as desparate as hating expansion for no other reason than that you have wistful memories of being 17 in the 70's (so that is 50 years ago) so basically, you don't like change. That isn't a sound basis for your constant negativity and keeping on creating multiple threads with the same expansion bashing agenda. You would be better off being honest and just saying you preferred the game how it was 50 years ago.
I'll be honest, I prefer the idea of expansion because I would rather visit Tolouse, Ottowa, New York over Widnes, Leigh, Bradford.

Do you mean you’d rather visit interesting towns and cities rather than provincial northern ones? When it comes to towns you WANT to visit then I’m sure a huge percentage of the Super League doesn’t fit the bill either so if that were the criteria the whole game would be screwed. You may well not want to visit Widnes, Leigh and Bradford, but there’s bugger-all to make me want to go to St Helens, Warrington, East Hull or Huddersfield to be honest. I go for the Rugby. Our origins in industrial heartlands, means that our clubs play in a lot of towns that are rather dull or even dour.
I’m expansionist but that means ADDING clubs not replacing ones with great heritage in our heartlands. Replacing isn’t expanding in the right sense of the word.

Some "incoming" from Mr. Perez.......

Particularly interesting how the great man tells us that Covid will not get in the way of Ottawa's march to the top.
He is assembling a team of players from here and France, and if they can't play in Canada I assume they will be playing all their home games here.
So will we be welcoming the next [iCanadian Club[/i next season, in a season where they won't play a single Canadian player or play within 3,000 miles of Canada?
I'm going to expand the game to Mongolia, Ulan Bator Rugby league Football Club. We're going to play at Batley, get all our players from England apart from a couple of Outer Monglian lads we will pay to wear the number 28 and 29 shirts for the season, and mingle with the crowd for the games. They won't get a game though.

| I'm always open minded to listening to the arguments for and against expansion, however, the one thing that does always leave me curious about the proposed North American clubs, is that if the game is going to be such a success over there, then why don't they simply start their own league, instead of going through the hassle of joining our championship and all the barriers that that will throw up, like having to gain promotions and sorting out travel issues for opponents and the like?
Surely, with the money they would save by not having commuting issues, they could then actually invest in their own set ups and academies?
A cynic might suggest that the likes of Perez and Argyle are actually promoting expansion for their own financial benefit, rather than the good of RL as a whole?

Neither is interested in money Argyle has Billions, and Perez get's by but loves the spotlight.....
Lets start with Argylle. He was born in Perth Australia and is a mad keen RL fan. He made and continues to make a fortune from mining, but he could not get into ownership at an NRL club. In Canada he met Perez who ran the 2010 founded CRL and together they cooked up the plan to get Argyle into Superleague here. The rest is history as they made it to Superleague but never bothered with any aspect of expansion which SL bosses defined as expanding the professional player pool and expanding the TV deals.
Perez promised both and delivered neither. Once Melbourne Storm's owner decided he would like someone to invest with Argyle was the man who put his hand up for that, and has dropped all interest in TWP like a child may eventually throw away his latest toy once bored with it/has a better toy to play with.
Perez is a great marketing man but he prefers to muck about in the Rugby league game. He didn't manage to achieve much "expansion" with Canada RL and Ottawa is the same plan Toronto followed. Sign all your players from here and play more here than you do in Canada.
The similarity even goes down to signing English players from the same club. Perez & Argyle took a load of Leigh lads for the core of his "Canadian" team. Perez has just signed his fifth Widnes player for Ottawa. There is nothing "cynical" about doubting Perez's expansion credentials, His track record is doing what suits Eric Perez which is running around being the big chief executive of a club that can attract media attention so he can be in the spotlight all the time.
When he lost his spotlight place at Toronto, he went to Bradford to stay in the limelight, and has now gone to Ottawa boasting of what they are going to do, same nonsense all over again. Above all Perez knows in our game he can get a very easy ride from RL journo's.............

Well you can't disagree Perez set TWP targets loud and clear in his interview with Dave Woods still on you tube. Neither target was met. Fact,
Anyway what of Ottawa Aces who are in the here and now?
[i"Ottawa Aces’ plans for their inaugural year were put under the microscope in a meeting of Championship and League 1 clubs last week. Even if travel is permitted, the price of air travel has sky-rocketed as a result of the demise of many airlines, allowing those that remain to raise costs to a premium………………….."[/i

| With no new owner of Salford ever likely it is also highly likely HKR will find no buyer either. Garry Schofield points to Wakefield and the [i"Where's Carter"[/i concern and indicates that (with respect) Huddersfield will be in the same boat in time. Add into that the certainty £200,000,000 is not coming Superleagues way again when the new SKY deal comes in and it looks like the game is set for a major crisis, regardless of Covid.
What then can stop the rot?
Well it appears that Canadian money is going to be the solution. Ottawa Aces apparently have a rich consortium, and if Toronto pull some multi-Million owners out of the bag tomorrow then that may be all they need to rescue TWP's SL place. For several years now Toronto's failing on the original criteria for entry, that being to develop Canadian players and TV deals in Canada has led to doubts about the continuance of the North American dream.
But suggestions in the RL press this morning seem to indicate an about face on criteria such that Toronto are being praised for their "10,000" crowds and also praised for outdoing the Toronto Arrows MLR team on crowds. That Toronto Arrows are a club that are at the head of a much stronger Canadian Rugby Union, that the Arrows have many Canadian players, and that their lower crowds may well pay their way in rather than come in on thousands of freebies doesn't seem to matter.
Maybe Perez's great confidence over Ottawa was in the knowledge Superleague were stuffed for money from the double whammy of less rich owners and less SKY money, and rich Canadian clubs now have the door open to them. That Superleague have had their private talks on the matter, and tomorrow only Elstone is to meet with Toronto it seems a deal is already done, hence Tony Smith indicates Hudgell walked on this matter. Maybe carter will go Wednesday?
IF this comes to pass and we get our "transatlantic" league, I can only think that the top SL bosses may believe that they can go on hogging the trophies and use the canadian sides as cannon fodder instead of Wakefield, HKR, Huddersfield and Salford providing them an easy 4/6 points each...... Desperate times indeed??

Do we really need another anti Canadian expansion thread ??
Until we can get supporters back into the grounds, the game is going to go downhill fast, not to mention getting kids playing the game in schools and at their local clubs.

You can troll your way to a mini victory if the subject is dismissed as "another expansion thread" which it is not.
It's about the collapse of HKR and the game losing Hudgell and likely your own club losing Carter and equally going down the pan.
How do you work out this is "expansion"??
It's this mornings big news, by all means play your silly games whilst your club burns

Then don't join in.
The fact is Hudgell walked a few days ago, and Carter is also looking less interested. The decision to admit TWP again is merely the catalyst for a serious split between the Superleague club owners. That's the subject.
This can't fairly be classed as an "expansion" discussion when it's primarily about a split in Superleagues ownership ranks that could threaten the game here. However keep on trolling if you want, wherever the discussion is sent to I'll be making my points on the actual news and fall out from the same. I won't be trolling people like you two.
