| Quote ="TwoBlues"They may have financial problems not helped by peoples understandable reluctance to attend games at a dilapidated stadium '"
If you think it's just the stadium you're kidding yourself. The entire club just screams of amateurism and that it's not fit to be in an elite league.
Quote ="TwoBlues"but there must be some people who prefer a club which has history and tradition,'"
There are plenty of clubs with history and tradition. That gets you nowhere. Competence on and off the field, and potential for the future are the major factors. Tell me how Wakefield rate on those issues?
Quote ="TwoBlues"and no little success,,'"
Are you taking the p1ss? Wakefield's last success was over 40 years ago.

Is John Dixon a better head coach than Brian Noble?

Quote ="TwoBlues"It is shameful that Widnes fans should 'support' them now their own future in Super League is almost assured and Wrexham is so very close to hand after their attitude to the club while they were in Bridgend.'"
Widnes fans can support who they like. The more sensible ones can see the benefit a club in Wales can bring to the sport. Also the more sensible ones are struggling to see what benefits Wakefield currently bring to top flight rugby league.
Quote ="TwoBlues"I hope honest and decent people boycott attending Wrexham and the club are as efficient and proficient at returning to zero points as the other club Rod Findlay is involved with were in 2010,(while attracting similar attendances)..........then we'll see where Wakefield may be in 2012.'"
Wakefield, sadly, will be struggling to survive in 2012. That is the cost of incredibly stupid/bad/self-serving decisions made by the club in the past.
Quote ="TwoBlues"I disagree that Wakefield have failed. '"
After over 100 years of trying Wakefield currently have:
- No money
- An old decrepit stadium that you admit no-one wants to go to
- No where to play in the future
- No players
- A main financial backer who is insolvent
- Owe their current existence to Rodney Walker
But no, the fact that they have some history and last won something 40 years ago will see them through.

The Crusaders are a fact of life in Super League. It is better all round that they succeed. I’ve seen many a positive post, by Wakefield fans, about the Crusaders and the Celtic Crusaders. I heard very little sympathy from them towards my club when they thought they were secure in Super league.
The Crusaders, and the way they are treated by the RFL, has nothing to do with Widnes fans. Please save your bile for the RFL, if you feel so strongly against their existence.

I will definitely be going to Wrexham, if Widnes get a licence, regardless of any sympathy that I have for Wakefield. This attitude helps neither Wakefield nor Widnes. It would just mean the death of yet another RL club.
I hope that Wakey can pull things together and prosper in the future. They are not the only club at risk.

Frankly hoping for a 'boycott' to force one club to fail in favour of another is pathetic.

The last time we were in SL, we made a slight profit. We are nothing like the Crusaders – old or new.
Glad to see the Crusaders out of admin though. Let’s see what they can do, without being hamstrung by the mess left by Leighton Samuel. How are you so sure that you could attract that many? Its been a while since Widnes were in SL, and it's not like you can base those figures on a recent (1-2 years) SL year. To say that you would be "in a better position that every other club in Super League" is another huge statement to make as well.

Are you thinking that SL is something that it's not? It's enough for half of the teams in SL. Until they increase their attendances, Widnes with 6-7k fit the SL bill perfectly.

When was the last time Widnes got 6k+ in the league?
18th June 2008 by my reckoning. Still, fitting the bill once every couple of years is better than never.

| Last time in SL, with possibly the worst team I can recall here we averaged well over 6500k.
There is no reason whatsoever that we can't do this again and build with the far better infrastructure and business plan we now have.
We at least doubled our attendances last time we come up into SL and we will do it again.
Our time in the SL proved that we can compete attendance wise (indeed our 1st 2 seasons were as good if not better than our nearest and erm... dearest and look at them now) - with the back room team we have here now we will only improve.
We are already approaching 2000 season tickets for an arguably meaningless season in the Championship.

with a strong backer and the stability of franchising theyll do 6000 - 8000 in year 1 and grow from that

| Not that I want to start a whole new argument off or anything but if any of these pesky rules would stay still for a minute (or were at least adhered) there are arguably cases for Wigan, Saints, Bradford, London, Crusaders, Cas & Wakey for things such as administration, salary cap breaches & stadium criteria.
[size=50There may be massive inaccuracies in the facts in my post but hey ho![/size

Yes. As I said your tone was needlessly aggressive. It still is. Anyone with an ounce of knowledge about your club would know you are only in that position thanks to your financial backer not due to the inherent strength of the club and its finances. If the club had to run purely on its own with no financial backing and deal with the debts and liabilities of the past (like a lot of other clubs have to) then your club wouldn't be in such a good position. That is the whole issue, can Widnes function as a SL club on it's own? The answer is probably, and as I replied to a more thoughtful and considered post from Pepe, Widnes would probably be around the "middle ground" of SL. But that again is only thanks to Steve O'Connor clearing up the mess of the past.
Quote ="HatedAndAdored"Feeling a bit sensitive dear? '"
Since you appear to be upset by anyone who dares question the monumental dominance of SL that will ensue when those nasty people at Red Hall finally give in to the massive public pressure to let your club into the elite league, then I would suggest it's you who is the sensitive one.
Come back when you can post something constructive to the debate like many of your fellow Widnes fans can.

So you think it's OK to compare attendances from a division that averages around 2,000 at best to one that averages nearly 10,000?
Widnes averaged over 6,000 every year we were in Super League (4 seasons). Yet remarkably in the preceding 6 years in the lower divisions we only got over 6,000 a couple of times for league games. Also Wakefield, Hull KR, Crusaders, Huddersfield, Salford etc very rarely got crowds of over 6,000 despite finding that pretty easy to do in Super League.
Still, let's not have facts getting in the way of an argument.

Now you really are exaggerating, I don't particularly care for the majority of cretins that infest this board and for what it's worth, I've given up posting 'constructively' on the VT long ago. If you care to look around there are far more 'aggressive' posters than me on here. Let's hope you don't come across any of them with your sensitive disposition.
