I don’t. Maybe the supporters of clubs who are used to winning stuff, the St’s, Leeds, Wigan’s etc are, but those of us who see our clubs just making up the numbers would rather see success at club level.
We also have little or no interest in the National team, as, it’s made up of the teams that win stuff.

I concur, I think many think like that. The other issue of course, is the lack of competition at that level. I can't cheer on England annihilating the likes of wales or france, and it's just as depressing if such talent-starved nations actually give us a run for our money. Basically we'd probably win everything on show if it wasn't for Australia, so the odd time we do beat them (they're bound to have an off day sooner or later), hardly makes us worthy world champions in the eyes of the nation when to achieve the same in other sports 'England' has has to do so much more.

Been waiting a lifetime for it compared to being spoilt watching Wigan over the years.

I really fear for England when this comp kicks off.

If England get to within 20 points i would treat that as a success. Aus and NZ are so far ahead it isnt funny. Short odds for them to be in the final.

| Country success before club success every time!
In order of preference...
1. GB to win an Ashes Series or World Cup.
2. Club to win a Grand Final.
3. England? Don't care.

Rugby League in this country has a rich history of competing on the international stage as GB which now appears to have been thrown down the toilet along with any future Ashes series. The most memorable Test Series in history involve GB... certainly not England which is just a brand name like Heinz Tomato Ketchup is a brand name. I don't consider myself English... I'm British, just as it says on the passport.
On the subject of who is currently the best team, if you think it's the Kiwis then feel free to stick a wad of money on them at the bookies. You'll get odds of 3/1 on them winning the 4N this year. Australia are paying 4/11.
I'm personally delighted that the Kiwis are current World Champions and 4N champions. It proves how far they've progressed internationally on the back of the Australian system and their players being products of the NRL. They've peaked at the right time to win recent Finals against Australia... something England are incapable of. But let's not lose sight of the fact that in 22 Tests between the two sides since 2004, Australia have won 16, two were drawn and the Kiwis won just 4.

Would it not be possible for England to play Australia for the Ashes – these are the two teams that contest the cricket ashes?

I would hope not, despite [url=http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/sep/14/england-australia-ditch-plans-ashes-gillette-series[uthis absurd attempt to resurrect the Ashes in 2009[/u[/url to be decided on a one-off qualifying fixture which was part of another tournament
My personal feeling is that if GB are no longer deemed fit to contest the Ashes over a 3 Test series, then sadly it's the end of the road for the concept. It'll be a shame but Super League has already cost us proper international tours anyway. What's one more nail in the coffin of international RL?
Thought England in cricket (the ECB) represented England & Wales?

I agree that the full international tours are a sad casualty of the Northern Hemisphere moving to a summer season
While it would be great to see, it would be difficult to envision a Lions tour taking place now with clubs extremely unlikely to release players during the season. I wouldn’t have a problem with England contesting the Ashes though – as long as it is in a legitimate three match series

History is what has seen RL fall behind inferior sports because people have been happy to accept the status quo instead of striving to improve the sport at international level.
