No you are not pointing out the rules. There’s no such thing as the momentum rule. Momentum is physics.
And it was a forward pass.

But I suppose it was a big relegation 4 pointer for their 'Rotten Club' (copyright Kevin Sinfield) so perhaps they can be excused a touch.
Their songs doesn't get any better either. Constant football and cricket chants yet again. Do they have any of their own?'"

Not desperate to win at all cost, let’s be honest if Londonhad scored that try then all the “neutrals” wouldn’t have a problem with the pass. That’s all it is here that they wanted a Leeds loss.

The fact that most neutrals wanted London to win is irrelevant. The pass was a mile forward and should have been spotted by the officials.

I would of loved to see a Leeds loss as I love to see the underdog win, I've now changed my opinion where I didn't want Leeds to finish bottom due to the fact your our best pay day to would like to see you firmly at the bottom as you wouldn't be going down as the RFL would want to save your butt

If it was a mile forward then why is Sutcliffe 2/3m ahead of the ball when it lands and hits the ground?

If you run quick enough you could throw a ball 10-20 metres forward and catch it, doesn’t make it a legal pass does it.
Haven’t seen the pass people are talking about, just making a point

| It wasnt a forward pass guys. Theres no momentum rule, the law cant be changed, its basic physics. The ball comes out of the hands backwards from a player running at speed. The direction of the ball in relation to the ground is irrelevant. Alex Sutcliffe passed it backwards. Here it is in black and white.
Direction of Pass 1. The direction of a pass is relative to the player making it and not to the actual path relative to the ground. A player running towards his opponents’ goal line may throw the ball towards a colleague who is behind him but because of the thrower’s own momentum the ball travels forward relative to the ground. This is not a forward pass as the thrower has not
passed the ball forward in relation to himself. This is particularly noticeable when a running player makes a high, lobbed pass.

| When a ball that has been passed 5 metres forward is not deemed to be a forward pass then there is something wrong with the rules of our game, surely if not a forward pass it would be classed as a knock on? The ball has been thrown to the floor and gone 5 metres forward Lol.

If you watch the youtube clip mentioned it shows an example of a player running forwards, throwing the ball backwards over his head yet the ball still travels 2m forward from where it was released. Its really not that hard to comprehend.

And how hard is it to comprehend that I think that a ball that has gone 5 metres forward from the passer of the ball to the receiver should be deemed to be a forward pass?
If you read my post again, it`s a pop at the rule book not this one isolated decision hence my comment that there is something wrong with the rules of our game?

| But by your logic, based on your issue with the law, 80% of passes during a game would be deemed forward.

So by your logic, you saying on average 8 out of 10 passes in a super league game go to the floor and forward 5 meters?

No it doesn’t you just don’t understand the forward pass rule and what constitutes a forward pass in the referee’s view. Just because people think any pass that is caught/lands ahead of the original point the pass being released should be a forward pass doesn’t make it so. I too don’t necessarily agree with it but until they change the rules then it wasn’t a forward pass by what the refs rule by in today’s game.

| It's the component of velocity perpendicular to the try line that is important (or parallel to the touchline). If the speed of the ball towards try line is greater than the speed of the (passing) player towards the try line when the pass is thrown then the pass is forward. Otherwise it isn't.

| I guess its a grey area when the pass goes to ground though, because then it could be deemed a knock-on, right?
