We have attracted 18,000 already in a game against Warrington, in a different stadium, years before Catalans won the Challenge Cup. This time, with the help of publicity promotion from Barcelona FC we could be looking at 36,000 at Camp Nou. That could be interesting.

My thought initially, but then I wondered about the possibility of a festival of all things Catalonian around the game, with music, bands, arts and crafts events, school trips, colles castelleres,....and let's not be shy about it, get the Buy from the Union lot as well as Barca themselves as both teams are considered the unofficial Catalonian National Sides........I reckon a 50k target could be achieved.....but as Chorley Boy has said, the RFL need to buy into this now and get dates set in stone

At the end of the day it's a Catalan home game, and SLE wants more control over the marketing of the sport. Time to stop the RFL blame game.

I agree with this. It's not the RFL's job to make this a success. Too many times people blame them for clubs lack of marketing and resource.

It's up to Catalan to make this is a success just like every other club when it comes to getting people attend home games.

All I said was to get behind it and set the fixture date.

Catalan v Wigan is a fixture that will take place in 2019......all the governing body need to do is agree with the date for the fixture once Wigan agree to take part....thereafter it it 100% down to the clubs involved and saying that, mainly Catalan unless they pay Wigan a % of the gate as a sweetener to get them to go out there.....

Per comments above, the recent vote means that any criticism or "suggestions" need to be directed at the SLE rather than the RFL. The RFL have pretty much handed the reins over to the SLE for Super League and will only have an interest in the Championship and the leagues below going forward - plus the national team as well of course.

It’s unbelievable the negativity, especially on Facebook. One thick bint was moaning that not only it was Wigan that had been chosen but the cost of it all, how unfair it was on supporters who would be expected to pay a few hundred pounds to see the game.

Stupid cow had to have it explained to her that it was a Catalans away fixture and the Wigan supporters would have had to travel to South of France anyway. In fact, flights to Barcelona are generally cheaper, as would accommodation.

Catalans winning the cup has given them a massive boost across the region. To parade the cup in front of a capacity crowd was tremendous for them. It’s sure to increase their profile with the Barcelona public.

The Catalans club should be selling tickets throughout the city until the game at a price of just €5 to get them in. Maybe even mail out an offer to the Barcelona season ticket holders? Worth a try, plenty of seats available.

What I thought was most telling was the reception from the football fans when they paraded the trophy around the pitch. The applause was fantastic

Making an observation that airline companies keep an eye on sporting draws and news and put their prices up from the local airport from one destination to another as soon as a draw is made is not flatcappers complaining, it's a bit of the travel industry who do exactly the same to football fans who also complain about it happening.

Saying the RFL and SLE should fully get behind this game and do all they can to make a big deal of it and worrying that their track record isn't great at marketing and promotion, is not flatcappers complaining.

And what is a flatcapper anyway? I wear a flatcap in the Winter and have positive outlook on expanding RL into different areas so where do i fit in?

Round here Fev fans are labelled as flatcappers but don’t know if there is also a wider definition?
