Rugby AM might not be everybody's cup of tea and is a little cringeworthy at times, but at least they are doing a show and getting it out on free to air national TV, plus coverage of the NCL. Comparing it to The Footy Show, which has a massive financial budget, is comparing apples to oranges. SKY should be producing a show to compete with The Footy Show, but what are they doing? Naff all since they got rid of Boots n'All.

When Simmonds opens his gob, he certainly removes all doubt. I'd rather have no coverage than comically bad coverage.

Agreed, I actually prefer RugbyAM to the old boots n all, at least on RugbyAM they are passionate about what they do. Boots n all was too much of a corporate studio talk show in suits for a mid week show for me.

I don’t mind Rugby Am and think this series has been a massive improvement. As I’ve said before, I’m easily pleased.

I’m quite surprised by some of the comments on here though, some quite snobbish. There is no money and a significant lack of coverage in Rugby League in this country, so I think Rugby AM should be applauded for trying to do something about it. A show about our sport, for the fans by the fans.

And to compare it to The NRL Footy Show is laughable. A show funded by a major broadcaster. Of course, it’s going to be better.

So what if Alex Simmons isn’t the best presenter in the world. At least he’s doing something. And Wagga is mental. Yet he’s like that in real life. Real people. Shock horror. What will people think!

And off the back of Rugby AM this year has been the televising of the NCL games and the War of the Roses which is brilliant for the sport. To be an amateur player and have a chance to play on TV must be unreal.

Bar the SL Show which is really just a highlights show what else is there? For me Rugby AM is doing a great job and can only get better.

I think you are missing the point of Rugby AM. As i said in my original post, "for the fans by the fans". Its not trying to be something that its not. Is Rugby AM designed for the non-RL fan? No. Are they bothered? Probably not.

When this initially started they tried (and failed massively) to take elements of the NRL Footy show. Wayne Godwin of course trying to take on what Beau Ryan did is nothing short of embarrassing - The whole show is a disaster from top to bottom.

Surely it cannot be hard to get a decent RL panel show going...

I find some of the Rugby League podcasts much better entertainment. In particular the Proper Sport, Super League Pod & BBC 5Live RL podcasts. Phil Caplan talks a lot of sense and is very clued up on a wealth of international & domestic RL issues. The only downside to the Proper Sport podcast is that you have to listen to the occasional rant from Gary Schofield.

Have you tried Whippets and Flatcaps with Jon Wilkin and Mark Flanagan and 6 til 8 debate with Oli Holmes and Jy Hitchcox? Both excellent!

Proper Sport podcast, The Last Tackle and the 6 til 8 debate with Oli and Jy are all favourites of mine. I’ve never listened to the one with Jon Wilkin though, I’ll have to give it a try

Its really good. Jon Wilkin is extremely articulate and its good to get current players thoughts on the game as a whole. They have some decent guests on as well. Very good. The guy who hosts it with them is a posh BBC presenter from Eaton or something who went to school with James Haskell. They take mick out of each other alot. It works really well.
