The whole system was devised to give "hope" to the Championship sides, rather that actually expecting them to gain promotion.
KR and Leigh have proved that promotion is achievable, which makes the concept a whole load more exciting, just as long as your team isn't involved.
The real difference this time around is that there are 2 or 3 genuine contenders for promotion.
However, despite the apparent poor form at the bottom end of SL, the clubs in the top flight still have the boss hand.

The logistics of playing the 7 games with, Toronto, Toulouse and possibly Catalan in the mix, could well decide the fete of those involved and no matter how the fixtures fall, some clubs will be sure to cry foul.
Avoiding an away game at Toronto will help.

Also, with attendances having been poor for these fixtures, all of the clubs involved, apart from any Championship club lucky enough to gain promotion, are going to lose substantial money in fulfilling this series of fixtures, not least the French clubs and Toronto.

Maybe we should ignore this as it doesnt fit with the whole expansion agenda

Toronto get better crowds than alot of SL clubs, why will they suffer in the middle 8s attendance wise.

With Fev and Leigh losing, London need to beat the French for the perfect weekend.

Btw, their actual attendances (or visible bums on seats) are ok for The Championship and should they get promoted, it will be up to them to try and generate sufficient interest to sustain their club.

You dont have to work for Delloite to know that, financially, they are blowing their brains out at the moment but, perhaps this will change.

Their spend vs income makes The Bulls of old look like a sound financial business.

Lamport Stadium holds 9600 and they are expecting to sell out most games this season.

I don't personally care if Toronto get in SL if they do they deserve to they started at the bottom it isn't as if they've been parachuted straight into SL but lets stop pretending they get crowds of 7000 plus they don't they get 3000-3500 tops which is still better than most of the championship

Toronto are a totally new animal to other RL clubs that have come before. They are an economic business proposition, their model is to buy their way through the leagues. A goal they are achieving with their spending power if promoted they will buy a team and possibly coach capable of a top 8 finish. The question is if this model returns ultimate success where then. This is more the model of US sport. Where does it leave the UK model?

10k gates are break even for a SL club in the UK......Toronto play in a ground that can't hold 10k......and then they have to finance travel and accommodation for both their team and the visiting sides......they are not an economic anything other than a black hole where Argyle will throw money until he tires of it.....£1,800,000 of SKY money isn't going to even touch the sides of what it will cost to run the wolfpack as a top 4 SL side....

Toronto has a population of nearly 3 million, and with all the free tickets they dish out, should be them.

I am not going to take sides here but do you really believe that? Whatever you think of Toronto they have the potential to be huge. Of course they also have the potential to fade away into nothingness if the investors get bored. But I don't see Leigh even being close to regular 5 figures crowds in the near future.

I would have agreed, but your first season back seemed to have some quite low crowds. I know Rovers first season in 2007 had some really decent crowds but even they are still struggling to get to the 10k milestone

Not nearly as many as there should be is the short answer. It was a general question in relation to Call me God questioning Toronto’s ability to get to 10k crowds.

Think the question here may be sustainability. Are the Toronto crowds sustainable, they are happy now as they have seen nothing but success. What hsppens when this week in week success stops?
