| Leigh brought good numbers to Wakey for the cup tie and given the importance of the games I think they will bring a fair few. I think their numbers put us to shame on the day of the cup tie.

| This is moot anyway isnt it? all depends on how the team plays, if Leigh lose their first 2 games which is entirely possible their away support along with the home will most likely drop as will Bradfords as will the rest of the teams playing, similarly if wakey slump i cant see many hardy souls turning up to see them get relegated (if that happens)
On the other hand if certain teams are winning then the attendances will increase always been the same and always will be, 10 years ago when bradford where playing well they had around 12k average, last year when they where about to be relegated they averaged around 5k give or take, all based on glory no matter what anyone says.
Can argue for ages about who will bring the most fans yadda yadda yadda, but it really doesn't matter, and im using a football reference here, wigan athletic where no where near selling out their home games during the FA cup win season yet when they reached the final scores of "die hard" fans showed up and also when Hilton park got demolished several years ago a lot more leigh fans showed up than what where there to begin with (and i know many people who where there), really depends on how the teams are playing be crap and they drop play well it increases is what im getting at

| Leigh took over 4000 to Warrington.
If Leigh beat HKR, I could see a figure near that going to Salford, especially with it not being on TV !
FFS, its only 10 mins away !!

Absolute bollox! Less than 4,000 bothered v anyone [u=#FF0000at[/u Leigh other than Bradford and London this season...and London was flogged off with free tickets. There was 4000ish Leigh fans at the Wire game. Sold out the entire end plus given a seating section at the side too.
It is madness that so many show up for the 'big' games that don't turn up week to week but that is how it goes. Our job now is to turn the one day wonders into regulars. We are heading in the right direction and good performances like at Wire will only help to encourage the big game fans to hopefully start attending more home games.

"Confidence abounds among Centurions fans with the club's initial ticket allocation of 3,500 having been snapped up and many more likely to make the eight-mile journey to the Halliwell Jones Stadium."
So not 'absolute bollox' at all.

What a load of old carp that comment is.
Leigh took more than 4,000 to Wire for the CC QF.
Ticket sales were announced by the Club & sold out twice, that's the 1st & 2nd allocations.
The away terrace was choc full & there were some in an adjoining seated section, so Nozzy is spot on.
Watching the match back on Sky+ actually showed the Wire home attendance to be quite poor by comparison.
If we are going well in the Qualifiers, you can expect to see 3 > 4,000 Leigh fans to travel to both Salford & Widnes.
Oh & [ianyone claiming otherwise is just daft[/i

Hi @theredviking
Not visited for a while.
Actually you are correct, it was an oversight to discount Widnes fan base, although given your SL position your home average attendance is not significantly higher.
I seem to remember that when both our clubs were in Championship, the home average attendances were only marginally higher at Widnes & in the year you secured a Licence to SL, your owner Director, Steve Whatsisface gave away hundreds of tickets at many home games to gain Licence points & boost both the attendance average & the application chances. Nothing wrong with that & in fact a shrewd move.
So yes, you're correct, not insignificant & at least as a RL Club you have a solid & loyal fan base.
Good luck in the 8's & FWIW I hope you stay up *but lose to Leigh* (Again).

| just a quick one on Leigh's support, as good as it is for that level, how many would they be getting had they not been top of the league and on that long unbeaten streak and going well in the cup? i'm pretty sure no Leigh fan would ever mention taking 4,000 to an away game, same with Bradford whose away followings in their last couple of years in super league were pitiful ( for them) and same with any team, people want to be associated with success and a winning team.
i suspect that if Leigh got promoted and became a middle of the table SL club there wouldn't be that much of an increase in attendances from what they are now.

Of course it is because we are going so well. Home support has roughly doubled over the past 2 years and our away support is probably roughly doubled too.
Wire game was a particularly big following for a number of reasons. The great run in the league, great run in the cup knocking out London, Salford and Wakey. A CC QF is huge for a Championship side and Wire is close, easy to get to and seen as a big team. Pushing Leeds so close the year before won't have hurt either.
FWIW I don't think we'll take that sort of support in the 8's except to Widnes (big rivalry) and then only if it is still 'important' as being the last game it could be settled one way or the other by then. Obviously if we are away in the Million Pound Game i'd expect us to take 4000+ anywhere.
I'd hope we'd take at least 1200 to Fax - good away game, not a huge distance but somewhere we go every year and the one people will miss if they are picking and choosing.
1800 maybe 2000 to Salford - add or subtract a few hundred if we do particularly well/badly v HKR
Widnes i'd hope for anything between 2000 for a 'dead rubber' to 3000+ if promotion spot is on the line. Always used to love going to Widnes. 1st fixture i'd look for every year before the buggers got promoted.

| I think the Leigh games will be well attended across the board other than maybe the Sheffield game.
Hull KR at home is the first game, and with them being in the cup final, they may bring a fair few on the back of the Wembley "feel good" factor. (And it could be the perfect chance for Leigh to overturn them).
Salford away is local.
Wakey at home will be seen as a big chance to upset a SL team (again).
Halifax away is just down the road.
Bradford at home will possibly be a huge game in terms of deciding who is in the "Million Pound Game."
And again, Widnes away is a local game.
An exciting schedule for a Leigh fan. And a Bradford fan for that matter. After Sheffield, they've got all four SL clubs on the bounce. If they can pull off an upset in those four weeks, the Leigh game will be huge. If not, and they lose to Leigh, it would pretty much be curtains for them (5 losses on the bounce).
Pressure is mostly on Wakey though, who have the two lower ranks on the last two weeks and the two potential upsets in round two and three.
As a neutral, I'm very much looking forward to this set of games. Been a while since I've been as interested in a domestic set of fixtures that haven't involved Hull.

Fair enough...apology proffered although I still think the original statement that Leigh travel in big numbers regularly isn't supported by the Championship attendances this year.
In better news, SKY New Zealand have a dedicated sports channel just for the end of the Season starting this weekend......

Does the fact that my post is factually correct and therefore shows that "Leigh fans don't actually travel in batches of 3k"make you uncomfortable?
It must do because you feel the need to point and laugh at another clubs attendances to make you feel less uncomfortable.

What angry Derek doesn't realise is that the £15k that the SL clubs are getting is simply money back that they have all put in at the start of the season. SL clubs put in £80k up front and get £15k back per televised home game.
Whilst I agree that Championship clubs could probably use the money more, it's not really theirs to claim.

| Well the Leigh fans seem to over estimate there away crowds more than we do. I think we probably take 4kish to the away game at Hull unless its a particularly important one. Apart from that its no where near that, no SL team has brought more than 3k except Hull and maybe Leeds first game. Leeds average 16k at home so that puts that into perspective.
We'll take under 1k to Leigh, prob more like 500. We're all saving our cash for Wembley where we'll take 80,000

Come on meast you know you are only allowed to comment on other clubs attendances if you support a team who regularly have 10,000 supporters and have won a few pots in the SL era.
No one else's opinion counts.... There's the irony.
