| Quote ="meast"Just us then? Must have missed every single team using those tactics in the last few years!
As for our forwards being effective? Which of our forwards have you been watching'"
I didn't say it was just Huddersfield. Just that controlling the speed of the play the ball is more important to Huddersfield than most other teams.
Huby, Crabtree, Kopczak, Ferres all do their bit each time I see Huddersfield. Plus the rest work well as a unit. Your forwards work very hard both in attack and defence. Which is why you're difficult to beat.

| Game of the weekend, but because there were no soft tries in the first half, it was deemed 'not good enough' for the Magic Weekend, absolute pish. It was very intense.
Don't agree with the call for a penalty try against Mcgilviray either, not even taking the mickey here but I applaud his effort and determination to get back and save his team. He then goes and gets a brilliant try to earn his team a point, how he didn't receive MOTM and Dureau did for missing that kick, I don't know.
Hudds didn't deserve to lose. Probably a fair result.

| Silly thread. It'll be some other clubs turn to be critized for playing style next. If people don't like it they don't have to watch us. We aren't doing anything illegal... We just do what a lot of other clubs do but currently doing it better.
Far from wearing claret and gold glasses but I think we and Catalan served up a real good game today. First half included!

| Don't think this is really warranted. Bit of a niggly side but if the refs don't deal with it, you find a way.
Would say however I thought Hudds got the rub of the green, I've seen them three times get that rub of the green and not win. They had a big lead in the penalty count today, got lucky with a couple of decisions (Darrell Griffin must be wondering how he got sent off for a borderline high tackle, yet a textbook shoulder charge to Escare's face, and McGilvery tackling higher than a cheech and chong film, penalty sufficient), huge penalty in their favour against Leeds and couldn't win. Teams expecting to win trophies expect to demolish sides when they have a huge penalty count in their favour. Hudds have been struggling to even get over the line.

You are wrong on the Escare incident. Wardle when tackling Escare pushes him into Grix. Completely accidental. i guess you were watching at home so would have heard Barrie Mc saying exactly that.

Huddersfield could be accused of having a shockingly conservative approach to playing the game. But as for this nonsense about slowing the PTB down more than any other team, what a load of rubbish.
Every team tries to do it. Wigan have been showcased for it by Phil Clarke on boots and all.
If the question is should the ruck be speeded up then definitely yes. Is the game becoming boring as a result of the ruck being slowed, again yes.
The easy solution is to go down to 4 or 6 substitutions then it simply won't happen.

It might be some mitigation in the disciplinary. But if we aren't sending off shoulder charges which accidentally hit the head, we wont be sending off many, and many who have been sent off will have some valid complaints.

| Anyone want to put me straight on what looked a pretty bad high shot on Escare (?) just before half time? It looked bad in the ground but it got one very brief replay on the big screen and no action taken as play had already restarted. Maybe I'm being one-eyed but it looked every bit as bad as Griffin 's the day before.

Depends which angle you look at on TV , couple show nothing wrong whilst one shows a shoulder to the face. They did mention Escare got pushed into the player but he still ended up taking a shoulder to the face.
As with most rugby fans , I love watching any game but whenever I see Huddersfield I struggle to be entertained ,all very formula based , drive, drive then to Brough to kick but it works , very efficient and similar to Chelsea at football.

Don't think it was that one mate. Didn't think it was a shoulder, more a swinging arm and pretty sure he was the only one in the tackle as well. Anyway I Sky +'d it so will watch again when I get home.
Got to say I really enjoyed the weekend and would happily return next year. What does everyone else think? Any other potential options? London too expensive for me, maybe Cardiff again? The Etihad isn't much of a change of scenery so would rather not go back there.

| Didn't think the Escare incident was deliberate, nor do I think it warranted a red card.
That said, Joel Moon was dismissed in near-identical circs last season and copped a 2-match ban IIRC.

| The thing I found oddest about the refereeing was that every time a Catalan player was tackled, Thaler was motioning that they had dived if there was the merest glance asking for a penalty for holding down.
It's as if that was the way he was going to treat us and nothing was going to bend his mind.

They didn't get the penalties because they do dive about and carry on every time they're tackled. Biggest set of drama queens in SL.

| So this thread has started off calling Huddersfield thugs.
However after 4 pages of chat we are basing this on holding down at the PTB and a 'possible' accidental shoulder charge.
Some folk need to get a grip. Thuggery - oh dear.
Do somebody want to run me through how many suspensions Huddersfield have had this year!

| I would just ask the Catalans team for their opinions!
One broken jaw, 1 full back with a swollen face after knees went in!
Holding a man whilst others twisted.
Perhaps people were watching something else.
As stated, they got away with it, and will do until any action is taken. As it stands it is unlikely but then what Huddersfield play is a not entertaining RL. It's functional as their coach says.

| How is holding down and slowing the PTB down thuggery?
As for the injuries, unfortunate but it is still a contact sport (just) and injuries happen, Brett ferres for injured does that mean Catalans are thugs too?
Like I said before whether you find us entertaining or not we don't do anything every other rugby league team doesn't do

| Your opinion.
However it seems that Thaler had made his mind up long before any tackles were made.
Not saying it was Huddersfield's fault, although the injury count does tell its own tale.

| What tale does it tell?
We lost Ferres in a fair tackle.
They lost Carney due to his own poor tackle technique and they also lost Tonga after a great tackle by Murphy. One he was wrongly charged for but rightly found not guilty.
Who went off injured as a result of 'thuggery'?

| Plus.
Huddersfield have had 5 players charged by the disciplinary this year. With only 2 of them receiving bans. Both one game a piece!
Little facts like this show that this thread is absolute b0llocks.
