Yes that is my point, every club has to make the best of what they have, but all too often people ( Club owners/directors ) cannot see how to expliot what they have, or they put wrong values on what they have, a case in point is a shiny new stadium, it will not solve anything, people are no longer dumstruck by a cantilever stand and loads of shiny ( empty ) seats

Smalll town clubs cannot support themselves, or build long term with corporate support, it is very much a chicken and egg situation, what comes 1 st, fans or sponsors? , the more fans you have, the more sponsors will be interested in investing in you, but how many new fans come because of a clubs sponsors?

Where do Catalans get their money from? Their crowds avg 8000 and they don't have blue chips sponsoring them so where's the income streams?

Not sure Wigan should be included in that list - pretty sure they have net assets of about minus £2mil. I think Leeds have c. £15m net assets (dunno about the others).

People that bleat on about us copying what the NRL are doing have no idea. We can't copy what they're doing. We don't have the investment via Leagues Clubs or the media attention to draw in bigger investors as well as make it far easier to attract bigger crowds without having to do a whole lot. They also don't have the competition from other much bigger sports than we do.

It's like saying Hunslet Hawks should be doing what Leeds United do.

Don't the Dragons get financial support from the local council/govt. That happens a lot with French sport and never happens over here so you can't really model on that.

These are what the club publish with company house, all the website does is show you the overview (to make those interested buy more in depth reports) so yes, it's verified by the club, as it's the club who posted the figures.

Cash is a taxable asset, which is why no club should be posting large cash sum values.

The best way to put it is Wigan have the most they can hide from the taxman, as opposed to any specific liabilities - but there are more inherent risks with fluid cash (not so say that will affect wigan in any way under the current regime, but a lot more risk with poor management)

Couldn't agree more, but that has nothing to do with "cash at bank" which is what you were implying.

Cash at bank is a fixed asset, fixed assets can be taxed as deferred tax (if for example a company tries to avoid all it's corporation tax by moving it's profit into a bank account) is applicable - it's a bit of a grey area - but it's giving the taxman an excuse to basically accuse you of moving money around to avoid tax ...

Anyway the latest accounts are what they are (for whatever reason) and as was said, net worth of Leeds is around 15million and Wigans is -2million
