How come people are not allowed to express their opinion when it comes to Sinfield?

Mine is very simple. He is an above average club player, who Leeds have built the whole club around. He has been successful there.

BUT

He is not good enough to start for England at 13, O'Loughlin & Burgess are FAR better.

He is not good enough to be a hooker for England, Roby, McIllorum, Houghton, Lunt and possibly a few more are better.

He is not good enough to be selected as a Half. To be perfectly honest the whole Brough Fiasco was a farce. I do not understand how anyone could stand up for Sinfield in that selection scenario.

Its not because Sinfield isnt a decent player, its because he isnt good enough to justify his inclusion, because he doesnt only have to be a normal player, he has to be the central figure of the team. We have better players to base our team around!

I have never rated Sinfield as an above average club player. Thats because would I want to pull out all the stops to sign him? no.

At Leeds over the last few years I would much rather have had other players they have had.

His Golden Boot was a farce & everyone know that. Not selected in the dream team or on the Man of Steel Short list yet somehow best player in the world for that year. I think everyone knows why he got it and anyone who tries to say he deserved it in my opinion is quite frankly insane. It is such a shame that a prestigious award like that got devalued by some individuals trying to make a statement!

Why is it that just because this has been said before people sweep it under the carpet. Surely alarm bells must be ringing that it continuously gets mentioned about Sinfield not being deserving of a place in the team let alone captaincy.

It is a valid opinion that many people have (and from what i understand it is only getting more and more apparent).

Its easy to say he is the best we have or we need a kicker or we need and organizer. But these people are just burying their heads in the ground and defending him. There are plenty of players who can play that role with great success. Brough was one of them.

What makes you so sure Brough could do it, if you could point me to any team Brough has captained and organised that has win anything that would be a good start.

No one is saying you can't have an opinion but you should expect that opinion to be challenged, Sinfield has no way been as bad as an international as is made out, 5 different England/ GB coaches over 13 years have considered him to be international class, I'd take their opinion over some people on a fans website.

This will quite rightly be Sinfields last tournement let's just get behind the team rather than constantly bagging our very good players.

Having an opinion challenged, particularly challenged with clear factual evidence, does not equate to not being allowed to have an opinion. Because someone tells you your opinion is idiotic does not mean you are not allowed to have that opinion.

Now, in this post you have repeatedly stated a subjective opinion. Can you give any objective reasons to back up why you hold the opinion that the multi award and multi trophy winning Leeds and England captain is only an average club player?

IMO I think Sinfield is a good player for Leeds but he doesn't seem to be able to always produce it on the international stage. I can't recall one match I have seem him play that he really stood out.

I thought he played ok last week against Aus but the problem I see is I never once thought he was going to take the line on and beat that 1st defender. I wouldn't even say he is the best we have in that position.

I don't agree with people changing nationality so this Brough saga doesn't bother me and don't even get me started on Chase! (if we were going to name a overseas half back in the England team why wasn't it Dobson!)

I'm more concerned that M.Smith or Myler both of whom teams made the GF weren't named anywhere near the England Team.

Is it because Sinfield tends to have a good kicking game? or with a Squad with a lot of younger players he offers international experience in the big competitions?

The team that England should be built around in IMHO is:

1. Tomkins
6 Widdop
7 M Smith
13 Burgess

In the past on the international stage Sinfield has gone missing, not even Sinfields biggest fan can argue that (he's not the only one) so people are going to debate what they see as better options. Personally I feel Sinfield is a great domestic player and offers more than anyone else we have as backup so he should play.

It does make me laugh how some people find they must insult others who have a different opinion to them, behind a PC screen.....

The reason Sinfield was picked was McNamara rightly or wrongly has built the side over 3 years and tried to get a settled squad basing that around Sinfield.

I think people just automatically think Sinfield has never stood out in international because he doesn't take the line on Like a 'traditional' stand off, so what? That's not his game, he's never played like that for Leeds yet has won 2 Harry Sunderland trophies and led his team to 6 GFs. As I said Sinfiekds international career has been nowhere near as bad as is made out, he's been MOM in his last 2 games against the world champions for a start.

In a recent poll between FC Barcelona fans 2% said they'd be a better side without Messi.

That's the point, it's hardly like Sinfield has been so amazing every time he has pulled on an international jersey that nobody should ever be able to discuss his spot in the team.... Same as players in other positions

So why single him out then, again and again.

It's a RL forum, people are going to discuss RL players on it. If you don't like a thread or stand to read some criticism on a Leeds player don't read it. Feel free to start a thread on any of the other 23 players and people will discuss that player too .......

I posted on here because it gets very boring seeing the same clueless morons posting the same drivel about the same player time and again.

But without singling anyone out, if Sinfield had had a pack around him last weekend that didn't give away stupid penalties or drop the ball at crucial times you'd all be praising him this week for leading England to a well earned victory against the Aussies.

You're joking, there would still have been a Sinfield bashing thread, for what ever reason Sinfield cops more flak than any other international I've known, it's funny that 5 international coaches, 3 GF winning coaches and his current peers all have a different view of Sinfield than the people who constantly snipe on here.

I think sinfield was fantastic.

Tomkins was terrible.

I support Leeds.

Funny how peacock and noble disagree with the naysayers in here isn't it, I think they know a thing or two about the game certainly more than people on here.

Played well today. Organised the team very well.

There's a clear anti - Sinfield agenda on here. The triangle of Chase, Sinfield, and Flanders looked good. Widop looked ok when he came on but nothing more IMO. His defence is a worry as well
I think people get too wrapped up in individual peices of skill and pace that they miss how well a player plays within a system


For me, I'd get Burrow or McCollorum on the bench instead of Widopp and keep the halves as they are.

Sinfields not playing badly, just prefer Widdop who produced a great kick for Watkins try. Is it me or is Sinfield not actually kicking that much? Chase & Tomkins seem to be doing a lot of the kicking.

Noble and Crabtree are not Sinfields teammates though are they, peacock was clearly annoyed at the texts that were sent in.

Yes it was a good kick by Widdop, Widdops a great player. Sinfield also produced a great kick last week for cudjoes try but I'm sure you wouldn't mention that.

Sinfield isn't kicking as much as they have a set structure and it's obviously a ploy to keep the opposition guessing to who will take the last play. both chase and Tomkins are sharing the last play kicks and it's working well.
