Exactly. I've travelled to Bournemouth and Gillingham on Tuesday nights with the Gillingham match being called off just as we came off the motorway. We went round the roundabout and got back on. 2 days holiday wasted.

If a good product is all it takes why bother marketing anything?



no one blamed premier sport for lack of viewers, he simply stated it has very few viewers.....and its hardly exposure when its an obscure channel that most people haven't heard of, you're hardly gonna grab the casual viewers. For the few hundred that's knocked off the gate of every TV game without recompense every club could go out and buy a digital camcorder and put the game on youtube. all this deal means is that the casual fan will sit in the pub and watch the game rather than go to the ground and put money into the clubs...i'm getting sick to death of this 'get what you're given and like it' mentality from certain SL fans

Well the game actually kicked off 3 quarters of an hour late after floodlight failure.
There were 33 leythers there if this game was on Sunday we would have took another 300 fans at the least and Haven would have had another 300 on so ,
Haven have lost a lot of money and get nothing back in return, unlike super dooper league clubs who get paid hundreds of thousands of pounds to be on sky

I'd like to see these figures that show that Trinity have the lowest viewers on Sky out of all 14 clubs, I'm interested to see.

When you go to barb.co.uk they only show top 10 viewing figures for any one week on the Sky Sports channels and the Saturday or Sunday games rarely appear on the list due to the drop in viewing figures. They also don't even tell you which teams where playing, without going back into the fixture list and matching them up the best you can. On top of that viewing figures are defendant on who you're playing, ie. Leeds v Trinity or Trinity v Salford, so it would be hard to get a fair reflection of whats what.

So you think Wakefield are going to be on prem sports in 2 years time, on really, you know something the rest of us don't, or are you just saying stuff for affect.

Leigh have been to Whitehaven before on Thursday nights and taken a decent following. It just turned out that this particular date not everyone could manage to get there.

Can't expect Premier Sports and the fixtures planners to plan around everybody. FWIW I thought it was an entertaining game, which serves the purpose of it being on TV.

With all due respect there's no point putting Keighley v Hunslet on just because they're close by. Because 'on paper' it would be a poorer quality game.

I wouldn't know, as Premier showed some Onion game between Biarritz and Heckmondwike or something instead

I have great respect for fans who travel away on days like that. I have a similar trip in a couple of weeks to C.Palace on a tuesday night and taking 2 days off work. I dread to think how much RL fans would complain if they had to play London on a tueday night.

The whole Premier Sports deal is a seperate debate really. Did the clubs vote on it?

This thread basically started because LISA couldn't sell their bus out and that was that.

There was a way round that. Just kept Twitter on and watched for signs of life from Whitehaven and watched another channel entirely until the announcement came that kick off would be at 8.15. Good on Premier Sports for being that flexible.

And while Premier is an obscure station - it has tried to get on Virgin, etc - they must have enjoyed some extra ratings because this season they have started out with real adverts around the rugby, unlike last season when they just had promos for their other sports plus League Express/League Weekly ads. They wouldn't be attracting any kind of ad package if there was nobody watching.

If they aren't awarded the NRL this season then that could harm them and it would be ashame. They have done a really good job with the Championships and were very consistent with their showing of the NRL last season.

No, I was in the pub, I kept in touch with events via Leigh updates (twitter) all indications were the game would go ahead so I had another pint, the pub kept one telly on PS and put the footie on the others, until it kicked off.
