First time in many a year, Leigh won't be taking a supporters coach to the game on Thursday night, why did they pick this game when this round sees two derby type games between Yorkshire clubs , instead they send Leigh to Haven on Valentines day, we managed to get 16 people who could get time of work to go but this would have resulted in paying about £27 each so instead a mini bus and a handful of cars will be there. How good will that look on TV

No this is a TV game it's 2 and a half hours from Leigh on a "good run" we was leaving at 3 how many works finish in time for people to make that? It make sense to have Thursdsy TV games featuring teams that are fairly close to each other or do what they did this weekmand sundaY at 6. LEIGH would have over 300 fans not 30 so Haven will lose out because of this .

If its a 7:30 kick off why are you setting off at 3?

Can only guess Premier have done it because they see it being a competitive game with perhaps an upset. I never knew there were so many Casanova's in Leigh pulling out all the stops on Valentines day!

If you include a ' services ' stop its a 3 hour + trip

Which gets you to 6 or 6:30, the game kicks off an hour later.

That will now hit Whitehaven in the pocket

Why in Gods name are the Championship owners putting up with playing midweek for no financial compensation , their stupidity knows no boundarys

Midweek matches for no compensation stinks , plain bloody stupid , 2 weeks ago Leigh took close to 500 for the match at Fev on a sunday , yes less than that would have gone to Haven , but still a financial ' hole ' for Haven

And to cap it all premier sports pay nothing for the tv rights to screen games. All the clubs in the Championship received 20k each last year and that was it. Ok for the teams who are never on but successful teams are getting hammered on attendances .
Does anybody know if the teams voted this in or just another one of those great ideas negotiated by the rugby league which isnt worth the paper its wrote on.

They would have to want it first and sadly, crappy old replays are worth more to them than some small time clubs no one has ever heard of playing some northern game not many people are interested in watching around the country.

In fairness, sitting at your desk is not the same as driving a car/bus and doesn't carry any of the attendant risks if you nod off or get distracted. Advice for driving long distances is to stop for 20 mins at least once every 2 hours.

I think it's amusing how we only see these sort of threads when clubs have to travel up to Cumbria. What about when the Cumbrian clubs have to travel in to the M62 corridor? Last season Workington played at Doncaster on a Thursday, evening on Premier Sports and I think Whitehaven played at Sheffield (?) and nobody seemed bothered.

Slightly OT but if people are complaining of a 2.5/3 hour journey on a Thursday night then feel sorry for the Liverpool fans who are away in St Petersburg tonight

And no I am not a liverpool fan. I think in RL fans have it very easy to go and watch every game if they so desire compared to just about any other sport.

We had 3 away games on tv this year .Town away no problem,swinton away on a Thursday night again no problem and eagles away Thursday.We requested the eagles game to be change as its over 4 hr's from whitehaven
