| looking at some of the squads and with more clubs squads to be announced it shows proof that we do not have the player pool to maintain a 14 team league!

| despite the fact that you could make up a pretty good team from the players we were linked with/turned us down, and theres one or two spots up for grabs we will go in like this
1. mcdonnell
2. crookes
3. arundel
4. yeaman
5. briscoe
6. holdsworth
7. seymour
8. watts
9. houghton
10. lynch
11. tickle
12. ellis
13. westerman
those should be the main numbers (ellis and tickle may swap numbers). then a pretty decent back up with most likely starters listed first
galea
heremaia
o meley
johnson
green
horne
pitts
whiting
crooks
lineham
kent
nicklas
cunningham
then 4 newcomers from the academy
starling
shaul
wilson
hadley
looks like a squad with a bit of strength in depth this time out but as sheldon says probably lacking one more halfback (and possibly a centre) - last 4 probably in for the future, but you never know, if gentle thinks you are good enough you are in

In certain positions is agree, but the clubs spending the full cap have good quality as back up that could be starting for lower clubs. Especially in the forwards.

I also reckon Jason Crookes will start on the wing, but Lineham has already proved that he will become a better player and will be the next best thing at Hull FC. The kid looks brilliant.

| I'd be disappointed if Crookes gets picked over Lineham. I think Tom, even though only in a handful of games, really showed some good signs. The strength/pace wed have on the wing with Briscoe and Lineham would be amazing.
To be fair though, I haven't seen a great deal of Crookes, but from what I have seen I rate Lineham higher.

thats another thread in its own right - adam pearson is addressing this plus one or two other 'slight problems' that developed under the previous regime

| Eleven Hull born players in that list and another three how came through our ranks. Albeit four of the Hull born players have just been promoted to the first team, but it's still early days with our new board in charge.
This is one of many things that Pearson is planning on changing. He's adamant to bring through more youth/Hull born lads.

| Think most of the savvy chairmen are realising now that the future is definitely in home grown talent. Fair play to Pearson at Hull for getting to work on sorting it out so quickly.

26 Curtis Naughton.
11 Home grown players and a shortage of props, langley down as 13 will probably be playing in the front row. Not too bad considering, if we stay relatively fit we'll compete at least, which given whats happened I'll take every day. Just glad I still have a club, being competitive would be a bonus. Need to add a couple of props and hope Purtell is ok to resume playing.

Out of interest, how do you see your back row lining up if Langley is played up front?

I think Donaldson will get a lot of game time. He seemed quite well thought of before the injury he had. I think Bateman will play LF with Whitehead and Donaldson in the second row. Ben Evans also had a decent series for Wales playing right second row, not sure he'll dislodge the above, but he will do a job if called upon.

Well I would play Whitehead, Bateman and Addy, with Addy at 13. I think Bateman is more dangerous running wide in the 2nd row inside Lulia. Olibison and Walker will also get plenty of time in the 2nd row and will probably be ahead of Addy in Cummins thinking (but I really rate Addy and would like to see him get a run at 13). Donaldson is coming back from injury and could easily get into the starting backrow, he was making a first team spot his before his last injury, but it will probably depend how he comes through preseason and if he can stay injury free.
Lots of home grown talent in the backrow to build a team around, but it feels very inexperienced to me and we'll miss Elima a lot. Whichever way FC goes there will be a lot of rotation in the backrow I think.

Better that way than experienced with no local talent coming through. That back row could be formidable with a season under their belt

That does seem to be true if a little harsh on some people. I think attacking wise KRs squad looks good though. You score 5 tries we will score 6 i think they are aiming for. Could be an exciting year

Some good players there but as with many teams its the depth of the squad that will decide the season. 1-13 maybe even 17 are ok but it soon drops off. Cas youngsters tend to do well when tested though so we'll see.
Millward alludes to that himself of course.
