| All quibbles about the quality of the game and the refereeing aside, can I just say that Hanbury's second try was an absolute stunner?

Agreed, that was the only true piece of skill in what was an apalling match. Wakey will need to really up their game if they want to go any further. Saying that, I am pleased they won.

| That performance bore no resemblance to our recent run of wins.
Having watched the replay just now, I'm a bit mystified by the sin-bin, although it clearly was a high tackle. Conversely, Widnes were allowed to slow the ruck down at will and scored their first two from forward passes.
Overall, a scrappy, ugly game, with one of the worst refereeing performances I've seen all season; at this stage though, 2 points is 2 points - bring on Salford, although I haven't a clue where it's being played as they've been booted out of their own stadium for the night by Sale Sharks.

It was one of the worst games in terms of playing and refereeing performance that I can remember for a long time. Truly depressing to think that one of Wakefield or Bradford will be competing in the playoffs two weeks after producing displays like those seen this week in what were important games for them.

finishing bottom DOES matter to us. With all due respect, if that's your attitude maybe an active interest in a professional sport wasn't the best choice for you.

| Quote ="Snake Plisskin"besides the winning try being scored whilst we were a man down. besides that winner coming down the sin binned players undermanned wing, and besides the sin binning coming when we were getting on top? If we discount all of that then yes, it didn't change the result. I understand he made terrible decisions both ways but none of the ones against you were clear game changers. Itsnot the first time recently that refereeing absurdity or outright incompetence has either definately or quite possibly cost us a win. Its rather tiresome.'"
Besides the first 2 Widnes tries that were off forward passes...

Personally, I agree that I wouldn't want my club to finish bottom irrespective of whether there were repercussions in real terms from it. Was impressed with the Widnes effort, even if it was a scrappy, niggly game on both counts.

In the 1st half of the season we were often dominated in
the ruck due to getting off the tackled player too quickly. Wigan have been the masters of slowing the PTB for years but when Widnes do it they are just spoiling tactics. It's about time Widnes got a bit of credit for the way we have now adapted to Superleague and a competitive team.
FWIW I actually thought the Dave Allen knock on early in
The tackle count in the 2nd half was the game breaker. At that point Widnes were on top.

| Widnes played a game of slowing Wakey down at the play the ball and scored first 2 tries from forward passes. Todays game wouldn't have mattered as much if Alibert could count properly and we would have beaten Warrington (they scored on 7th tackle). Widnes are not the only team to feel they have had decisions go against them. When Mathers complained about the ipitch he was told he had to man up. Perhaps the same applies to Widnes today.

Go away and be truly depressed in your own room then you little ray of sunshine.
Ive followed wakey to the last 6 games in which the team has won all. I didn't see it coming but the team have busted their balls every week to beat top 6 teams, grind out and close out hard fought victories and put on display some quality rugby league.
I'll admit that the Widnes game was low quality and wakey have not played that bad for a long time. But the effort and grit was their from every player and a wins all that mattered. Like any top 4 teams never have an off game here and there. Maybe you should shelve your stereotype of the smaller clubs and actually go and watch/ buy some Wakefield games so you can base your snide comments on more than 1 game.
Wakey may not be a glamour club but the amount of effort on many levels on and off field has culminated in us having a good shot at playoff rugby. That should be applauded not frowned upon.

Well if stayed on we may have got at least a draw.Child is a e ref.Lee Smith should have been binned if Flynn was to be honest.Player ducked and was not a purpose high tackle.I thought was a bad decision.

| Widnes also not played to their best either, as we lost ball too much.Widnes need credit for the effort, and missing several forwards at prop has not helped.
