| Quote ="sanjunien"why 'cowardly' BigRob ?
and why 'surrender monkeys' ,BigRob ?
please explain'"
Well cheese-eating surrender monkeys is a quote from The Simpsons and 'cowardly' is a stereotype often attached to the French. I thought that was fairly self evident.
I notice you don't refute 'garlic-y, frogs legs & snail eating, dirty, unwashed and adulterous'?
Is it also true that the French can't take a joke?

| Watching the Leigh v Sheffield game now as I was working that day and the ref didn't give a penalty for 25 minutes and it was a cracking, open game. Refs should stay out of the way.

I agree, he has a unique running style which doesn't help either. He also doesn't help himself sometimes when he appears to not quite know what to do. The end of the Wigan v Leeds playoff game last season was an example of him having to be told by the TJ what to do.
Having said that I'd agree he's probably the best ref in SL and certainly doesn't have the ego of many other refs.

sorry mate never seen The Simpsons so can't help you there
regarding the rest,well,
never tasted snails or frogs legs myself but apparently they are ok,if you like that sort of thing I suppose - they are not commonly eaten by the average french person as far as i'm aware probably no more or less than say a scotsperson eating haggis & chips or similar...
'garlic-y' ? - probably no more than the average british household nowadays though it depends on which part of france you go to - most french people I know take garlic in tablet (odourless) form as a part of a healthy diet etc. It's really good for you ,you know ?
'dirty & unwashed' - the general hygene standards are much higher in france than in modern day britain - look around,it's a relatively clean country compared to the european dustbin that is britain and the french population spend loads more on personal hygene than the brits,if the rl fans i've seen in Perpignan & Toulouse are anything to go by,not to mention the tens of thousands of uk spongers who come over to france annually to try to milk the superior Social Security system etc
'adulterous' - yes, definitely - can't think of many french married or attached adults who don't have lovers
'cowardly' - just compare the losses of french and uk/commonwealth soldiers & civilians in WW1 (especially) & WW2 and you will see the similarity of the figures. Not to mention the 90,000 french jews who didn't have much choice - are they cowards also ?
yes,the french do have a sense of humour tho' obviosly as twisted as yours it seems - having a bad hair-day are we ? what with the mighty Rhinos getting stuffed twice in a row

You know you could have just replied with "No the French can't take a joke". It would have been far quicker and easier.

He's only responding how we may do if an Aussie, French person or American says English people
1. Have bad teeth
2. Have poor personal hygiene
3. Are generally xenophobic and often racist
4. Spoil foreign holiday resorts by boorish behaviour and refusal to eat "foreign muck"
5. Are arrogant
6. Are work shy and have a poorly educated set of young people
7. All talk like Helen Mirren in The Queen or Dick Van Dyke in Meawy Poppins
etc. etc.

it's pretty clear the british education system hasn't provided you with the ability to give a more comprehensive reply...
you still haven't actually justified calling the french population 'cowards' - I for one would love to know how you come to this stunning conclusion !
or maybe you actually believe all the old cobblers taught you by your peers ?

hey,i'm a Saints fan too (since 1967 !) so I must have a sense of humour ! did you go to Perpignan ? it was a good match and the Catalans could easily have shared the points at the end - spoke to some of the lads after who knew they had been in a match and just got away with the victory.
Good all round performance with Gaskell & Menzies both awesome for their teams IMO

No I just haven't had the money to go to Perignan yet! It's something I definitely plan to do within the next few seasons though. I've only seen the highlights but Menzies was very impressive, some really big hits in there. I also thought the highlights made Eastmond look much improved on last week, but that could just be because it only showed the good bits? And yeah, Gaskell looked really good, I'm hoping he can continue like that!

you sound like another Rhinos whinger to me - your Leeds buddy can't justify what he spurts out cos' he knows he shows himself to be what he is,and that is an extreme xenophobe with a limited knowledge of history - how can anyone take what 'various comedy shows' come out with seriously ? now you are being silly !
Of course he can justify it - why call the french 'cowards' ?
it's quite insulting and if similar comments were directed at the ethnic minorities in britain such a post would have been censured by the moderator

it's definitely worth the trip if you can make it - Perpignan is a great place though for some reason the Saints games always seem to be in the early season when it's a bit cooler plus more difficult for the Saints fans to make it a part of their summer holidays unlike Wires,Wigan & Leeds who always seem to play down here in mid-summer bringing many more fans.
Menzies IS still a great player and Trent Robinson seems to be getting the best out of him - Hendo is settling in well at hooker and Dureau is now finding his game.Should be good entertainment against Cas next week.
For the Saints,as I said I thought Gaskell looked immense with a great kicking game thrown in - his goal line drop outs were impressive.Roby & Graham were imperious as usual and Wellens looked solid enough under pressure.Mr Simmons looked quite relieved after the match....

Thomas is/was a great player but he seems to be playing on pain killers (when he plays !) and has already been warned by Bobbie Goulding of such things. He should have had the operation last season but waited until january for some reason and is looking at a further few weeks out I think he could be a permanent sick-note from now on.Gigot is gaining in confience so Thomas may find it tricky to get back in the side.As I said Dureau is improving with each game and proving more influential - his try was quite impressive, breaking through a decent Saints defence. On that showing I reckon they would have beaten the majority of SL teams on the night.
Funny old game innit ?

| Always thought Alibert was a decent ref anyway and I really think he's come on leaps and bounds.
How he's been criticised when you have the likes Thaler & Child turning in shocking performances is beyond me.
