Last year it was 2,300

It isn't a good base at all and it is unlikely to get much bigger

| Assuming the Bulls make up the revenue on the bar, snack facilities and club shop (and it isn't outsourced for a set fee like at some stadiums) the Bulls will have done well out of today's game, because I've never seen such long queues there for refreshments and we had to wait for 5 mins to get in the club shop, which has never happened before.
Positive signs; they could probably do with more sales outlets around the stadium if the crowds hold up because I think they could have sold a lot more grub/drinks to fans if it wasn't for the half hour long queues at the catering van near us. All in all, good work from the Bulls, glad their price plan appears to have worked on initial evidence.

im sure the CFO/CEO of the bulls has just a little bit more knowledge of the bulls ability to fund this deal than random internet posters from rival clubs who wish their club offered a similar deal

Quote ="Mild mannered Janitor"£60 a ST works out at about £4.75 per home game. Or put another way, Bradford would have to increase their games at least 3 fold to get the same revenue in from these fans as last year. Unless Bradford have a major financial backer, its a fairly high risk strategy.'"
Is that right, Einstein & Co?
For the avoidance of doubt:
1. The club did NOT issue 10,000 season tickets at £60, ffs! For example, basic stand tickets (the central seats are a lot more expensive) cost £99. That is what I paid.
2. The family stand was pretty busy yesterday. It holds 5,300. The large majority of those in the stand are season ticket holders.
3. The club has NEVER sold more than 5k season tickets. Ever. Of late it has been maybe 4k. This season it is nearly 11k.
4. All those freezing Wigan fans (Great turnout guys! ) on the Rooley Avenue terrace were spending LOADS at all the food stalls . And you could not even get IN the Touchdown bar from shortly after I squeezed in.
5. Over 15k in unpleasant weather conditions - great away support but clearly at least a couple of thousand or so walk-ins too.
6. Ancillary income - from home fans at the stall, in the bars, at the shops, for programmes... sponsorship etc is much improved as a result of the higher attendances.
And I can assure the knockers that the scheme was fully costed and at all levels improves the club's net income compared to what would otherwise have been the case.

| A great effort from Bradford and they should be congratulated for being innovative and it paying off in a MASSIVE way!!
Who cares if the majority of tickets are cheap!? If it gets them in this year they've got a stronger than average chance of keeping their custom for next year too. Add in the money spent within the stadium complex, additional merchandise and sponsorships and it's a huge win win situation all round
Absolutely freezing yesterday, in the height of summer you could add another 2000 to that gate. The stand selling hot chocolate was about 100 deep 10 mins into the second half

| It's about time sporting organisations got real with their pricing in this day and age, instead of relying on the blind loyalty of ever dwindling fan bases and screwing the fans every year! Well done Bradford.

| That was a good crowd and it looked good too.
Well done Bradford, I'm sure they did their sums before hand and I was worried for them at one stage should their walk up be poor.
Yesterday it was quite the opposite.
If they have over 10k season tickets then the walk up was around 5000.
What is not appreciated perhaps was that the game was in doubt early on and a pitch inspection took place to confirm it would go ahead. That the Bulls got 15300 under those circumstances is excellent.
It was mentioned that the weather was poor, not for Odsal it wasn't, it was just so very very cold!
Although biased I thought there were more than 2000 of us Wiganers there.

| Most of them were only there because it was Wigan, plus Wigan brought a load!
Only kidding. Great showing, and hope you can keep it up for the season. Odsal is a stadium that really needs a good crowd, and hopefully this is the way to do it week in, week out. Best of luck for the rest of the year. Other clubs should take note.

It is but they shouldn't really have left in droves in the first place (Average fell by a massive 5,102 since they won the league in 2005). Support your club through thick and thin! We did at Wigan in 2006!

No point telling us on here that - the majority on RLFANS are the loyal ones.
I totally agree with you, but unfortunately that's just the way it is. The threat of relegation always makes the fans get on board though, so you can't use that as an example

Didn't Wigan's have a similar drop in the mid 90s? Didn't they average about 14,000 when they were winning everything early 90s and dropped to less than 9000 in 1997 - remember a small crowd when Salford won at Central Park that year.
If you want a consistent level of crowd you need to be consistently mediocre - you avoid the bandwagon jumpers that way.

| 2007...Bulls Wakey got 10,700.....since then it was falling and last year they got 7,500.....Absolutely outstanding effort from the Bulls Management Team to get an increase of 71% for this years game.
To the poster who thinks that the club have taken a risk with the 60 quid ticket...I would suggest that the accountants knew that if they got the 10,000 season tickets sold, they would be OK.
8,380 was the average last year....109k fans walked through the gates all year. There current (early I know) average is close to 14,100....up 68%...and if they can maintain it, then an ADDITIONAL 74,000 fans will walk into the ground this year.....they will be thirsty, hungry and tempted to buy replica kit etc......
in fact, 11,452 more fans have been to odslum than for last years corresponding fuxtures.....I'd bet the bar/food takings are well up.
Again...outstanding work by the Bulls....
