To be fair, Cullen did as good as job as he could. Widnes were in crisis when he came in and he steadied the ship, as well as winning a comp which should see us in the top flight in 2012.

Gone are the days when Championship sides can build squads which can take the rest of the league apart, sinply because it is not financially viable (IE - Widnes 2007). Furthermore, there's no need for over-investment in players as there is no immediate promise of promotion.

And sadly that IS what happens no matter what.

One day, the penny may drop about a players true worth although that I suppose is subjective.

The converse however is that the competition is degraded somewhat and that surely cannot be good for the game overall.

Great end to the season. It's a shame a club have been relegated after finishing above Toulouse, but those were the rules.

Surely if there was a case for only relegating one club this year and expanding the Championship to 12 clubs, this is it? Would be a good excuse to do it, anyway.
