I'd definately look to host some matches in London, probably at the Stoop as QPR's ground is a scruffy hole.'"
Hopefully not. The last one failed miserably because they played just one group game each in Lancashire and Yorkshire!!! They took in places like Gloucester, Edinburgh, Belfast, Reading, Watford etc.
Model it on the excellent 1995 tournament and it'll be a success. Play Ireland games in Ireland, Scotland games in Scotland and Wales games in Wales by all means but keep the rest up here at grounds like Warrington, Widnes, Leeds etc. Then get bigger stadiums for the knockout rounds.

| If they apply reasonable ticket prices (£20-30 perhaps) and market the games well in the areas, then I can see it being a success.

Range of rugby league grounds for the group games. (maybe add St James to the frame)
Elland Road, Anfield, KC and DW to host Quarters imo
Millenium Stadium and Old Trafford to host Semis.
Wembley for the final.
That would look good imo.

If it's like the last world cup their won't be quater finals and those grounds would be 'way' too big anyway.
Hopefully we'll have a few new grounds in the rugby league before then and be looking at places like Warrington, Widnes, Leigh, St Helens, Salford, Wakefield, Cas, Bradford for the group games outside of the England ones.
The England group games at grounds like Hull, Wigan and Huddersfield.
The semi's maybe as a double header at the City of Manchester with the final being played Old Trafford or if they feel really ambitious Wembley.

when it comes to fighting wars the Ausies go where the motherland tells them to go!
As for the world cup this is a fantastic decision and will be a huge success.
After all the hard work done by the RFL to expand the game in Europe we deserve to host the tournement.

We've got 4 years to plan this, if we can't sell out a world cup final at wembley (or at least get a very very good crowd) with 4 years notice, there's no hope for us.

firstly these venues are way too big, Elland road and Anfiels hold over 40k! Millenium and OT hold over 70k!
secondly it will be in the football season so i doubt these clubs will willingly give up their stadia and ruin their pretty pitches (their veiw, not mine).
Group games should be held at quins (massive ozzie fan base in Landan) or another london venue, Headingly, KC (if we can with footy), wales, Saints new ground and Warrington, possibly widnes and Cas/Wakey/Salford if they're done as well. Small full stadia look better than big empty ones.
Quarters and semi should be held, again football allowing at DW, Headingly, London, and wales.
Semis London and Headingly, and final at Wembley.
If we are going to use it to really promote the game then tickets for games should be very cheap compared to football, around £15 -£20 for adults.

Why?
Two of the biggest crowds for Internationals in this country in the last decade have been the Tri Nations final 06 at Elland Road, and the World Cup Final at Old Trafford. Neither game involved England.
Given that London has a massive Aussie/Kiwi population then there is no reason why such a game would be a disastor.

DW, KC, Galpharm and London should get Quarters.
Semis at Elland Road and City of Manchester Stadium.

The Olympic Stadium will be at reduced capacity also, so i think that that will be in with a really good shout for anything... especially if Scholars are allowed to move in aswell.

| If it's going to be run along the same stupid lines as 2008, with the big 4 battling for 3 places and everyone else trying to get the 1 other semi place, I would base the England v NZ and England v Australia games at Wembley, with the Stoop for the Australia NZ game (will be 15k capacity by then) and PNG games played in the North.
The Semi finals can be played at grounds like Bell end road or Old trafford and the final at Wembley.
The "so called lesser" teams can have games played at wire/huds/leigh/wigan......but if they do choose the big stadiums (19k+) then they had bloody well better fill them.
290,000 fans at games is the target to beat in 18 games...so no less than 10k for the so called lesser games and 50k+ for the England Pool games at Wembley. The final, regardless of who is in it HAS TO BE A SOLD OUT WEMBLEY........
If the RFL are on the ball and can cement the structure early next year, then they should offer "packages" for sale now with payment by Direct Debit......2 trips to London (possibly a 3rd to the final) isn't cheap, but if the cost can be spread over 24 months (or longer) then you'll sell more.
Pool 3 last time had samoa, tonga and Ireland. £60 gets you into all 3 games and a discounted (£15) semi-final ticket.
same for pool 2.
Pool 1: 6 games....say £120 with the option for a discounted ticket.
The Final...wembley prices but with EVERYONE who buys a "pool" ticket being entered into a draw for a corporate hospitality box.
60,000 superleague fans attend games each week, with another 10,000 at Co-Op level, so there's 70,000 fans. Incentivise these fans to attend as many games as possible and if they all see 4 games, we will beat the 290k the aussies got last year.

| Wembley for the opener and the final please. We have enough time to make this a big festival of rugby league, plan other events (Emerging Nations, Services, Wheelchair Rugby Tournaments) around it - let's not be negative, lets have a tournament which shows our game as open to everyone and have a load of fun as well as a top notch international sporting event.
