| Quote ="Alice's Phallus"Salford have failed to impress so far.
They have beaten Celtic at home and then got thumped by the lowly Wakefield. (Take the Aussies Demetriou, Drew, and Blanch out of the side and Wakefield is not a SL standard team).
Their first home ground attendance of 4,026 was abysmal. It was exceeded by the home game crowd of Celtic Crusaders and Harlequins this weekend.
Salford have some very good players but a poor coach and administration. The coach, who is personally a lovely man and a good TV commentator for sure, is not respected in Australia as a coach. The administration of Steve Simms has a lot of question marks around it. If the new stadium does not get under construction by early 2011, and their crowds do not increase to over 6,000, then I would expect that the RFL has every right to dump them.'"
if you are going to talk about coaches not being respected in australia then there are 13 in SL like that.
and bluey only gets some kudos for the 05 tri nations win.

| Salford is going to become a growth area in terms of money and investment when the Media City is up and running. The Quays area is a fantastic place to live for young successful professionals, city vibe, attractive location visually, close to Manchesters social scene. There's going to be money in the area to tap into so strategically its essential for Super League IMO to have a franchise there.

Wes makes a fairer point on this occasion. Alice's Phallus is clearly a dumb troll who just wants to create an even longer and more pointless thread than Marsden - if it makes them happy.
Personally I'll settle for our non SL standard British players - Blaymire, Moore (GB train on squad), Atkins (England) Rooney (England), Grix, Brough (now what di he ever do), Gleeson, Pitts (very highly rated), Ferguson etc etc - oh the pain

The Quays and everything wonderful it brings has been a growth area for at least 10 years and hasnt had any noticable effect on the club. The largest industrial park in Europe is on its doorstep for a hundred years. Again, little effect.
The supposed new ground in Barton is as far removed from the Quays as Ordsall or Weaste is.
Take one loyal and much respected servant away and they could easily be Swinton.

Some sad people, schoolyard bully types feel the need to pick on some one, usually the new boy.
Salford did OK yesterday but will likely finish bottom 3 - so what someone has to.
There is a great deal of potential at Salford as there is at many clubs, but as ever it will depend on whether certain things happen or don't.
Problem with the VT is it's just a place where loons can dump their particular grudges and prejudices or in some cases just start an argument.
Nothing wrong with it so long as you accept that it's mainly drivel.

The much respected John Wilkinson has had an infinatley greater and noticable affect on Salford City Reds than the Quays or Trafford Park has or indeed will have. Only a halfwit would be blind to that.
Had he been a Swinton fan and Malcolm White (you need to go back pre SL if you can) was a Salford fan, then it could just as easily be the Lions having over 20 years of loyal support sufficient to maintain a top flight slub.
As for grudges, if you can really be bothered, have a look at the support I posted long ago for Salford being granted a place in SL and how important a new ground in the area is, not just to them but RL as a whole.
Then google 'prejudice' and perhaps 'irony', then refer back to your own post.

I think you may have misunderstood my post, I wasn't disagreeing with YOU, nor was I agreeing. Just making a point that Salford are bound to attract comments from the loon who started this thread, they need a whipping boy.
Most of what you say is correct - it could also very easily be applied to a number of clubs some of whom are doing rather well.

| Not sure I understand this thread. Are we being potentially booted out of SL because our ground and support base isn't good (because there are a number of SL teams in that boat) or because we've lost one game so far this season (because there are a number of SL teams in that boat)?

| Salford fans:
1. Ignore posts about your attendance figures, especially when they come from people who are not fans of your club.
2. Ignore the "they're 5hit" posts, especially if they come from people who are not fans of your club!
2. DO NOT BITE!! If you feed trolls, they generally come back.
4. Please feel free to reward such trolling with one of these.

The standard in super league is very poor. I'd like to know how many players currently in super league are what people would call "super league standard".
And don't big up Wakefield beating Wigan either. Given the way we're playing at the moment Warrington Wizards could probably beat us.

Two games in. One win, one loss. What's your teams win/loss record this season.

Wakefield are a decent team. Okay, they aren't full of individually brilliant players but they have generally been greater than the sum of their parts.
Quote Their first home ground attendance of 4,026 was abysmal. It was exceeded by the home game crowd of Celtic Crusaders and Harlequins this weekend.'"
It was on TV, which didn't help. Not to mention that there was no away support. Granted we should not rely on away support but the crowd wasn't too bad all things considered.
But then our crowds have generally been disappointing. A new ground wth better facilities for home and away fans, and the increased investment in the team, should see a decent improvement.
Regardless, we deserve our place in SL. After all, we were the best team in NL1 and the authorities thought we were good enough for a franchise. We deserve to be in SL on merit.
I will say with confidence that our crowds will exceed those of Quins and Celtic over the season. Although that doesn't really matter.
Quote Salford have some very good players but a poor coach and administration. '"
Do we have a poor administration? Richard Lewis doesn't appear to think so.

Who respects Jimmy Lowes' coaching abilities?
How many trophies has Lowes won as a coach? How many coaches in SL have won more silverware than SM?

We probably don't deserve our place in SL if we don't meet those conditions. However, the decision will be made by well-informed people with knoweldge about the game and not by people like you.
BTW Wood Green smells of wee. It really does. I pity you living there.

I'm sorry - I thought this was a Rugby League forum - you remember that game, the one where tough men tough-it-out and defence is rewarded with points on the board.
All of a sudden, because barring Leeds & Saints there seems to be some parity amongst clubs, the standard has to be 'poor'. I just can't believe the reaction of some 'fans' to the fact they just may have to 'slum-it' with the rest - this is the future of the game - the one where no one side, or even 4 sides, will be able to dominate. Get used to it!

Don't fall into the trap mate, please. Wakefield actually have quite a few top quality players it just doesn't suit the elitists on here to admit it. Drew (obviously), Brough, Obst, Atkins, Latu and Rooney all proven gamebreakers and all chased at various times by "BIG" clubs, they only became crap (allegedly) again when we kept them - how covenient.
What we lack is that middle group of players who give you the depth though this year that is mainly down to injuries. The youngsters coming through are good so we may bridge that gap soon. Finally we have a rare breed in Demetriou, a captain who actually leads from the front which is invaluable.
So take no notice as you shouldn't be expected tp beat a fairly battle hardened SL team on their own turf. There really are some up themselves idiots on here

Actually I had forgotten about the Scottish heritage scrum half Danny Brough. The guy is top draw, no question about it. Rooney however is a defensive liability, and inconsistent in attack. Atkins is hit or miss. Obst is just too tiny to be great. Latu is too violent and prone to penalties. Brough is the really consistent talent.
Thanks for the reminder about Brough. I have modified my original post to take account of your important comment about Danny Brough.

I may well do. Since Warrington, and perhaps Wigan are going to be looking for a new coach before this season is out, and since Cullen and McCormack are regarded as damaged goods, there is a shortage of quality coaches on the market. I may well have a shot.
