Because the only teams that applied and met the criteria for the last rounds of licences were Widnes, Halifax, and Barrow. Barrow didn't get very far with it (not sure if they'd met all the criteria) and aren't even in the Championship anymore, so that leaves Widnes and Halifax. Widnes are already in SL, so that leaves Halifax.
Halifax are also currently top of the Championship, too.

And have 3 clubs that reside in the Wakefield Metropolitan District?
Halifax have a modern stadium, the North Stand is getting fixed which would give the stadium a 14000-15000 capacity, a new electronic scoreboard is being installed, crowds are up, The Calderdale catchment area has a population of over 150000. if Fax replace Bradford, I'm sure the club will get those fans back that deserted the team during the Bullmania years. The club made a profit this year. They have been involved in 3 finals in 3 years. They have an ex England coach at the helm. They have a good neucleus of players that could cope with Super League, or who have had Super League experience.
Personally, if Bradford do go down the leagues, Super League will be a 13 team competition.
In an ideal world, I would promote the winner of the Co-op Grand Final.
Widnes did naff all on the field in the Championships to deserve their place.
From an SL perspective, I just can't see how promoting a Village team (which Featherstone essentially is, a village) into Super League, though I believe Fax of Fev would have done better in SL this year than Widnes.

Let them rot.

| The vote by the other 13 clubs will depend, like all other times they've voted, on what they see as their own best interests. Will Leeds want to lose the derby? Will clubs who have won against the Bulls want to lose those points if they're ejected? How many of them are in dire financial straits themselves and won't want to set a precedent in case they find themselves in a similar situation?
My money is on a vote to let the newco Bulls stay in SL.

Widnes won what they needed to and didn't waste money overspending on playing squad in the championship. How would a side like fax have done better than Widnes this year, because both teams gave SL clubs a game in the cup?

| If the franchise farce was today then Fev, Sheffield and Leigh have ticked the playing box. The best ground is the LSV, the best team Fev. Fax haven't won the right to apply yet. So on that logic Toulouse to SL.

If the fold....they will be reborn and picked up for a quid....re-negotiate rental agreements on Oddslum, convince all the players they want to stay....and it will be "as you were" by February 2013.....
......nothing to see here, move along.
The only benefit I can see to the Welsh (x2), Wakey and now Bradford going tits up is that nobody accuses London of receiving financial help any more

| What if Red Hall decided to take advantage of Bradford's situation, and with a prod or two from SKY, spent the summer pushing ahead with the idea of including in their place another French team for next season?
Feasible?

Ahem, I don't recall Wakefield getting any financial assistance from the RFL or this supposed Rugby League family. Indeed just prior to going tits up Wakefield asked the RFL for a £300k sub and were turned down.
There was never any of this angst and handwringing from across the RL world when we were in the brown stuff, nor your goodselves in London for that matter.

| Quote ="maurice"This would be simple with p&r. Bulls to C1 at seasons end winner of Championship replaces them for 2013. As it is a points deduction means nothing and the belief of a corrupt RFL franchise process is enhanced.
Refn this topic - the clubs in danger of losing a franchise would vote against, the clubs who gain by having a strong Bradford vote for - ie self interest rules.'"
Would it be simpler?
Who is relegated from C1 to make way for the Bulls? Or do we have to expand that league? is that League expanded for good or just temporarily? What about the team which finishes bottom of SL? are they given a reprieve or are they relegated too? Is someone going to be promoted to C1? or does P+R not matter there?
Do we promote two sides to the Championship from C1 instead of one to fit the Bulls in to C1? If we relegate the bottom SL side aswell we would then have a Championship which was a team bigger.
So under P+R, we are left with a whole heap of questions, all three leagues being affected and the possibility of forcing ourselves in to the idiotic position of possible taking an SL team, sticking it in a league it is too big for, just so we can take the best team away from the championship and replace them with one or two from a lower league.
Sounds like an absolutely perfect format for RL if you are the RFU

Indeed. However, the RFL have been slipping us cash for years to keep us afloat, don't forget that.

| Any vote would be difficult. Clubs down the bottom end - like Cas/Wakey/Salford, would have to weigh up a balance of an home game against the Bulls. If it was Fev getting promoted I suspect that Cas would vote against the Bulls staying up. Especially given that in effect it would mean one less team nearer the play-offs for us.
For those at the top, it would be less difficult but I suspect it would come down to a moral choice over being sentimental.

Why? If they go into liquidation why should they be able to reform at the top? You wouldn't see it in any other sport. It would be morally wrong and against the spirit of the game.

| I'm sure you said that right up to Lloyd selling you up the river HR! But in all seriousness I hope not, seeing the smugness wiped off HFC fans faces on derby day is far more valuable than the demise of your club!
Fully I believe Bradford have a lot to offer SL. A well run club has the potential for 10k+ crowds and competitive teams. Outside of SL I can;t see anybody who offers as much. If we are going to keep same number of SL teams then a succesful Bradford is worth more to the comp than anyone currently outside SL imo.
SL is now a business, fans have got to accept that. The days of the top tier being about what happens on the field are long gone. Its capitalism at its finest, like it or not.
