Bradford have potential healthy crowds and proven strong away support, plus an inexplicably consistent track record with our youth (considering what a basket-case we've been). But to me that just isn't enough to justify being parachuted into SL. I want us to earn it and to also earn back the respect of the game in general.

I realise this is very unlikely but, IF Catalan could make it to the GF and win, just imagine an opening fixture to next seasons SL of Catalan v Toulouse.
This would gain significant coverage in the media and be a game to wet the appetite of all but the most insular of RL fans.

Is Ryan Atkins' three month ban to be served in the closed season like most of Ben Flower's post cup final ban was. If so, surely the RFL's leniency means that they still see York as being very much in the mix for the slingshot into SL?

From what I can gather falling outside the top 6 in 2018 left a huge disparity in central funding VS contracted wages and whatever the reason Derek said the club wasn’t bringing in enough revenue to cover its cost base and he couldn’t afford to tip anymore in (ala Neil Hudgell)

I suppose he was faced with a dilemma, enter administration and take all punitive measures for Leigh Centurions or tell all contracted players they were free to find new clubs if they so wished and agree on settlements with each player.

I’m told the 2 that went legal were the only 2 out of the full squad that wouldn’t agree a settlement which is their right.

Ironically most of the other players came back to Leigh in the end.

I suppose if he really couldn’t afford to spend the money after finishing outside the 6 then cutting his cloth accordingly is probably the most diligent thing you can do in those circumstances and as much as making people redundant is not nice it probably stopped the club following in the steps of Bradford, Widnes and Toronto and going bust.
