We could I reckon, we'd be weak in the halves but we'd certainly have a team somewhere near to what we put out now. When you consider our starting pack is Lynch, Diskin, Hargreaves, Elima, Whitehead and Langley, swap Elima with Donaldson. And have O'Brien, Kopzcak, Scruton, Addy on the bench, we look good towards doing it.



It's our backline where'd be a little bit weaker where at the moment, you'd be looking at Royston, Ainscough, Platt, Walker, Raynor, Briggs and Southernwood. Naturally weaker without Kearney and Herbert. But we could do it, and it would be competitive.

Castleford might be one of the clubs that could field a 17 of all home grown players, don't know why they didn't spring to mind immediately alongside Sts who I also overlooked.

I doubt we'll ever see it happen unless through freak injuries. SL sides will always - and rightly - want to strengthen their side with overseas players. The issue has been and still is the quantity. TBH I don't think that 'only 3' overseas players in a squad of 17 is that much to boast about - its only because we're so used to seeing sides with double or even triple that number that it seems good.

The sad thing is, That Leeds side would beat most SL sides. And most of the top sides, Wigan, Saints, Hudds, Wire, could put out a similar squad.

It is interesting when threads like this come about how many fans can name a decent squad of only GB players and how many of the overseas players in this league arent really needed.

We've already put a team out this season where 1-8 were all British. This weekend we'll have a team that 10-13 are all British too.

The first 13 is pretty strong, all of them with plenty of Superleague experience and the only change between that and the side that faced Quins is Washbrook in for Fitzgibbon. On the bench we have to rely on kids and we lack the power of Moa, Manu and Lauaki coming on, but that side would be reasonably competetive (although you could argue that Hull aren't competative even with the imports).

Edited for accuracy as Luke Ambler (Salford), Jay Pitts (Wakefield), Kyle Amor (Whitehaven) and Zak Hardaker (Featherstone) are not homegrown. Also, why no Brad Singleton and Jared Stewart in either squad? I have included Aston Wilson in the homegrown squad as I think he will be a talent, aswell as Liam Hood over Stevie Ward imo.

As for Ambler, Pitts, Amor & Hardaker I thought the rule was that they actually are classed as homegrown if they complete 3 years at the club prior to being 21 and during those 3 years are also classed as homegrown.

If that is the case, then you have a case for that, but -

1. Hardaker (October 2010), Amor, Pitts (July 2009) and Ambler (December 200icon_cool.gif havent been at the club for 3 years. (Yeah i can understand that they have been included because they will most likely be for 3 years

)
2. I thought it was if they havent played SL in the past for former clubs? meaning Luke Ambler and Jay Pitts would not be included

I don't think former clubs are an issue in it as long as they serve 3 years before they are ineligible for U21's. I thought the rule included players who were "working towards" being homegrown as well but I could be wrong on that!
