ive got a million reasons to hate union, but a big one is what they did to us in france
france and australia showed them that in a FAIR competition between them and us, we destroy them.
that why they have to cheat and lie to survive
union is a sport which will die off or be relegated to insignificance
we are the rugby of the future
the SL war set RL back a bit but we have so much potential.
the NRL is such a magnificent competition, it shi**s on the combined sport of union world wide. and then SL is making great guns too.
its inevitable that union will go the way of the dodo and more union fans will come over to us

| Interestingly enough the Warrington Guardian ran a story this week about the wolves' new pre season regime that is '...using rugby union techniques to develop faster and stronger athletes'. It goes on to say things like ' ...joined the club from Guiness Premiership champions Leicester Tigers...we've got the lads fitter and healthier...they are becoming power athletes. Kevin Penny, Richie Mathers and Chris Riley have put some good size on and are stronger and faster than last season'.
It took me by suprise actually, the articles freely available to read on the Warrington Guardian website.
Lets see how the wolves go next year...

So you've got "1" (sans link) versus 4 national teams and 8 club teams.
Sounds like a winner...

The same Warrington Guardian that once refused to review a book on the town's biggest ever hero, Brian Bevan, by the way.
Sounds like the rah rahs have infested the joint...
Not much of a source.
Mine was the London Times - always a journal looking to advance the interests of rugby league.

| I don't have a link I read it in the paper. I'm sure it's on their website, i'm not that bothered.
Just an interesting viewpoint from a head conditioner in British Rugby League rather than nobodies debating on a forum with one who thinks he knows people and therefore is right.
If the UK game wants to overtake the Aussie one then they need to be looking to other sources for Sports Science knowledge and techniques. That's where warrington have gone this year, appointing Leicester's conditioning man and a head nutritionalist from Union, I wonder how the results will go.

8 Guinness Premiership sides have rugby league defence coaches...
Bath
Gloucester
Leeds
Leicester
London Irish
London Wasps
Newcastle
Worcester
Number of rugby league clubs employing a union person - 1 (started couple weeks ago)

| I agree completely.
They identified a weakness and brought the best blokes in to do a coaching job.
Sports science is a different kettle of fish. I definately think RL can learn from all sports, even soccer regarding techniques.

You're a sad indictment on the Australian educational system.
We'll see how Warrington go this year. To be fair we've heard it before in 08 when we had England RU's conditioner, featured as a Maximuscle cover story and didn't do a lot.

| I personally can't stand the farce that is the scrum in union.
But I also feel there's no need for a scrum in League: It just looks freakin stupid.
One could argue it takes the forwards out of the game, adds a bit of diversity yet no one ever really uses it to their advantage.
Pointless exercise

wests tigers have loads of scrum moves ie set moves off scrums.
why should we lose the scrum, just becuase union people bag it. who cares. hardly any of their scrums go against the feed anyway, and they risk neck injuries and are very messy.

Anyone not understanding the scrum is a key attacking platform is an idiot.
Ah Dico qualifies...

| You'll have to highlight this one for me.
Pretty much every scrum these days results in a forward taking the ball up as first receiver.
I'd much rather see a tap and get on with it, much better innovation than this double try crap
