But that isn't really the point of the exercise , what Dale are trying to do is to create an ' atmosphere ' at Spotland that will be attractive to bringing people back again , as that is what is missing at most lower tier matches

What is the betting Rochdale get more than for the England v Exiles game?

Castleford aimed for 10k in Super League albiet against Quins but they gave had buy one get one free on adults tickets and may have had some free kids tickets too, anyway the attendance was 7k. This was a big attendance for this game considering Quins travelling support but it still fell short of 10k.

Why even mention SL clubs at all?

It's an incentive by Rochdale Hornets, so why not talk about it?

Wildly optimistic and a bit pointless even mentioning 10k, but at least they are having a go at boosting what is sadly a not very popular sport in Rochdale.

I mention super league clubs because some of them need to be doing things like this as well.... it's shocking that the smaller clubs are setting the example for what the sport needs.

I think clubs should try 'stunts' like these either right at the end of a season or in the pre-season and incorporate it with a big push for season ticket sales. Cos there's no point 10k showing up and then not being able to retain any long-term...

If they don't show up again then the product is not good enough.

If they turned up and saw a great game of rugby, had a great night out and the service they recieved was awesome then they would have a little reason not to return. After that cost would be the only issue for most people.

Correct it is the whole experience , that is why actual numbers attending is vital as it is that that creates the neccessary atmosphere within a stadium

Free to get in with collection buckets outside. £10 to bloody park but an entertaining game with a great atmosphere and fans from plenty of different clubs. I was sat with fans from Hornets and Halifax an there was loads of good banter.
All credit to Hornets for what they're trying to do. Sad and ever so predictable to see the usual suspects knocking a rugby league club showing some imagination and ambition.

Good to see Rochdale trying something different, I have always had a soft spot for them.

Dont quote me but I think Hull FC hold the record for attendance outside of SL. In 97, the year we came up we were unbeaten and only needed to beat Featherstone at home to win the title. The club pulled out all the stops, loads of advertising, parachutists delivered the match ball. Featherstone pi**ed on the party and beat us, think i was 18-0. There were around 9000 there that day. We averaged around the 6000 mark for the season. We won the title a week later by beating Hudd at their place.
