Nice one, but it's pointless doing like for like as you well know.
Round 4 average attendance in 2014 = 7320.86
Round 4 average attendance in 2015 (based on your 44257 figure) = 7376.17
You're welcome.

Round 2 up from 10424 to 10570

No idea on this weekend's but they're not hard to find, as you well know.
Overall averages are up for the first 4 rounds by about 500 or 7'ish %

No idea if this was covered when he made that point but I'm sure that Club Wembley tickets didn't include the RLWC semi finals on their season tickets for Wembley events, they were sold separately.

In comparison to last years Sky viewing figures (which incidentally were very poor and well down on previous seasons), this season they are even worse.
Currently 33% down on last season up to the beginning of March thus far.
None of that will rate a mention on the RFL website or in any of the Moonie RL websites or publications.'"
That's a worrying stat, I'd be interested to understand the context, namely:
- when did thursday/Monday games come in and what do viewing figures for these slots look like compared to the slot(s) they replaced? (ie is there an underlying issue akin to the nonsensical comparison of attendances at games played on a Thursday night to games played on a Sunday that I often see in here)
- what are the like for like Friday v Friday comparisons like?
On the face of it the TV figures for last year are worrying.

Could be down to the number of games now shown on SS3 (in itself worrying, in so far as this is hardly the flagship channel). Reason being that those running the BT Vision set-up while subscribing to Sky Sports only receive SS1 and 2.

| Or it could just be that people are losing interest? For Salford to lose 4,500 spectators from the same fixture last year says its possible.

It'd be surprising if no-one was losing interest. The question is, how many? FWIW the flash in the pan that was a 7k+ crowd against Wakey suggests to me that most of those can't have had much interest in the first place.

It's not the "same fixture" though is it?
This is the same sort of bilge argument that I recently read about Saints crowds being down because a televised Friday night game against Cas in the February cold drew less than the "equivalent" top of the table, non-televised clash in late June on a gloriously sunny Sunday afternoon in 2014.

Spot on.
Comparing the Wakey crowd at Salford yesterday to the same fixture last year (First game of the season of a new owner and new team with a full pre-season of hype) is a pointless exercise. I don't understand why the crowd speccies don't take into account all the other factors. It can't have anything to do with cherry-picking what they require to make a point, surely?

Couldn't agree more. We need to understand why to be able to do anything about it.
I don't think it's sensible to ignore scheduling changes when trying to understand why?
It may be that like for like TV viewing figures are down a long way, which would be very concerning indeed.
It might be that the new timing slots are less attractive, or that we are being shown on channels with less subscribers. This would still be concerning but in a slightly different way and with slightly different consequences.
Likelihood is it's a mixture of reasons, which all need to be properly considered. But it seems some people will only consider it to be 100% due to a decline in viewer interest or 100% due to scheduling.
For what it's worth I think the standard has been poor so far this year and I look forward to watching the TV games less than I did = decline in viewer interest. I also, however, sometimes still completely forget about the Thursday night games (for some reason the only night stamped in my mind as a TV RL night is Friday), plus I have BT Vision = scheduling.
I am speaking from a position of ignorance though as I have zero clue how the figures are compiled.

Why not?
That is the question that all the SL clubs should be aiming the games to be, blockbusters, and people clamouring to be there.
I ask a simple question, what is Rugby League and why should I be interested?
That is the biggest challenge the game has and IMO it doesn't know where to start.
The game has always struggled to promote itself and lives to much in the past.
The gam needs a new modern dynamic to make people aware.
T20 anyone?, Dubaii 7's or a weekend bash in Blackpool..
Whatever works, or dosnt.
