What would be massively unfair on Hicks is that he misses out on the chance to referee a major showpiece final because the chairman of one of the finalists in the previous one behaved so crassly.

If the RFL have got any balls at all, they'll make sure Robert Hicks gets a fair crack at the final, regardless of which teams are involved; a bitter club chairman can't dictate who referees what.

I don't think McManus would have any concern if he reffed the Grand Final with his team involved in it, the only influence is maybe nearly every no try/try would go up to the video ref.

As far as dictating who referees what, since the Warrington players and coach made a scathing attack on referee James Child quite a while ago I don't think he's refereed a game involving Warrington since, is that a coincidence or will we see that situation continue for the rest of the season.

I couldn't give any $h1ts at all what 'concerns,' or otherwise, McManus has about referee appointments - and neither should the RFL.

Child ref'd the Catalans v Wire game on the 3rd August. Wires have had 3 league fixtures since then...Childs hasn't officiated in any of them. Just 3 games. Not really a story is it. Your making yourself look like a small time fool mate...just like your Chairman is making Saints look like a small-time, desperate little team.

Did either Chairman take out a full page in their programme to claim the ref was biased and then doubled down on the claim?

Well done to Chris Kendall who thoroughly deserves the appointment as he has consistently been the best referee this season. Note, this doesn't mean he won't make a mistake in the final, but it's the correct call appointing him.

Good to see the right decision has been made, common sense has prevailed and Mr Hicks is nowhere near any of the finals. He can now reflect on his performances and try to improve. I'm sure he will do both things and look forward to him being back in the reckoning for the big games in the future.
