im sure we could wing it with saying a few english players qualify for them , and i imagine that rugby league is watched in these places to a greater or lesser extent, even if only by people who moved there from the mainland UK.
as could probably be argued with the Isle of Man and the channel islands. so theres 4 more.
cook islands are also another that springs to mind.

Until they get proper leagues in many of the PI's and home nations it ain't going to happen. A load of Aussies and Kiwis with PI grandparents and Englishmen with Scottish or Welsh cousins isn't really going to cut it with the CG organisers.

There are already leagues in the Pacific Islands and home nations.

If not, we should be fighting to get RL players in the RU 7s tournaments. RU 7s frustrates the hell out of me - the basics of draw & pass, running lines, etc seems to have passed RU by. Can you imagine players like Sam Tomkins?? They'd take it by storm.

Is 2014 in Glasgow too soon for RL to be played? Imagine if it is played and a fair few folk turn out to support it and then Gold Coast hold the games in 2018.

The last thing I want is our players showcasing their stuff in front of various rugby unions and wealthy union backers. Apart from that sevens is a horrible freak show of a 'sport'. It offers absolutely nothing and as you alluded to it's no more than gloryfied tag.
If rugby league does eventually make it into the games would you prefer to see thirteen a side or nines?

Probably 9s. We want it to be an exhibition as much as a RL competition and 9s allows for more space and fluidity, more room to showcase a player's skills - and of course more try scoring opportunities.

Something like 15 mins each way, drop goals for conversions, 3-man scrums, 4 subs...

odd, given that they are on this thread.

This sounds weird, but 9's is better because there's less people in the team... If you want to get your developing nations involved its going to be easier for them to put a 9's squad together. In a country with little or no experience of RL it's easier and you're more guaranteed to find 13 or 14 quality players than 21 or 22. Its also cheaper transport 13/14 than 21/22.

That sounds strange, but I suppose this is why Fiji have done so well at 7's and not XV's. Same with the relative success of Kenya.
