Why would anyone bother? The RFL sent out the message from the very top that says it's an utterly pointless game no need to bother going by arranging it to clash with the England World Cup game and also having a full round of RL fixtures going on that weekend, the London Skolars v York and Qunis RL v Leeds double header being a cracking example of gross mismanagement by the RFL as they were going on at the same time. I have no confidence in them and our game will wither into a fringe sport with the current RFL bigwigs in charge. Having it at a 10,000 capacity stadium with no Rail links was the icing on the cake. This game should have had some massive promotion and build up, there should have been a blank SL weekend and it should have been held at a bigger venue. The RFL are not fit for purpose they are killing RL.

With less than 6000 bothering to turn up why should any of the media bother?

As for the game, it was a friendly. It served a purpose. It wasn't pointless. It wasn't treated as an event by the RFL, so wasn't treated as an event by everyone else. When you schedule a game on the same weekend as the SL and Championship games, on the same day as the amateur games and at the same time the SL champions are playing, not to mention right before with the opening England WC game; and then host it at a small ground in a small town very few people would be that interested in visiting, it says to me that the RFL either don't want people to come to this game or that they don't know how to get people at a game!

There are simply way too many reasons to not go to this game. Only the most hardened RL fans would want to go out of their way to go to this game from a distance further than 20-30miles, and then they've got to find a mate to go with! Supporting international RL should not be a chore.

year on year we devalue our sport by making it cheaper and cheaper to get in,guess what people aren't turning up,grand finals,challenge cups ,internationals no matter how many offers we lay out.

simple truth union fills theres out without gimmicks,ask why and were our decline started? before sky it was wembley,old traffold,now we move to smaller and smller venues

Five Live had a reporter there but no commentary. In a non world cup period I think they would have at least covered it on Sports Extra but world cup on Five Live and Formula 1 on Sports Extra is what they did. They went to France last two years I think.

Tickets are cheaper because of the recession. Union are doing cheap tickets as well.
