Ellery Hanley was one of the most over rated players EVER.

He was built up by the pommie media to be a legend.

And yet Terry 'Baa Baa' Lamb showed him up for the average wannabee he really was.

He took a flagging Balmain side to the GF. The weekly playoffs involving Balmain was like watching a movie - portrayed as such by the Aussie media, not the British one. It's similar to the way Aussie club sides say how much they look forward to playing in the UK in the World Club Challenge once a year.

Its similar to the way our older/pensioned off/sick/lame/past it players sign for SL Clubs and say how fantastic the ESL really is.


If interest can be generated in a particular subject in order that that product or service ends up making more money then the media will report pretty much anything.

Ellery Hanley was a very average player who got added media coverage because he was black and a pom. The media exploited him to sell more magazines....and so it seems video tapes to people like your good self.

When Baa Baa Lamb effectively ended his career it showed him up for what he really was.

A very average Pom who got lucky by getting a gig in the NSWRL.

shows how little you know about rugby league. hanley was the best player in the world for a number of years, and was an absolute sensation down here. if he didnt play for the tigers in 88, we dont make the gf, and the game was lost when terry lamb took him out with one of the biggest cheap shots of all time. i know you're only on these boards to stir up some sh*t, but you really dont know much about the sport do you?

as for the new tigers import, havnt really heard much about him, but hopefully gaz ellis takes him under his wing and he can play a utility role for us next year.
