Wakefields crowds have been disapointing this year you have got that bit right the other part of your statement is a bit vague not to mention a tad stupid, like ours other clubs attendances are either up or down holding up fairly well what a silly thing to say.

Again - comments from people who make judgements on things they know little or nothing about. I cannot comment on Celtic / St's / Salford as I know nothing about them. I know a little of the Cas' proposal, based on related issues to our own, but I do know ours.
The previous proposal was for a fully council funded stadia in Wakefield. This was scrapped due to lack of funds. We now have a completely new site; a developer with the backing to deliver and, in part, funding from WMDC. Clearly the developer has other interests in the development, just as with St Helens I believe, and further funds are required but, with all of this being undertaken not by WTRLFC but by our Community Trust and, in particular, by Sir Rodney Walker, we believe that we have the right set-up to allow this to happen.
Further news will be in our local rag on Friday!

As far as I am aware Wakefield have had no plans rejected by the planning authorities', are you getting mixed up with Thornes Park where that was rejected because of the finance involved. Dont let that stop you from trying to cause a little mischief though. Your still not annoyed over last Friday are you. You are arent you.

| I've no idea as to who will have a new stadium come 2012. All I know is that it shouldn't be downplayed in it's importance.
[urlhttp://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_league/7519326.stm[/url
This was from a year ago today and it's clear how crucial the stadium was to Salford's and Wakefield's bids.
It would be a shame for Wakefield to miss out if they are doing so well on the field but the point of franchising is that that is one small part. They still struggle on the crowds front and they have dropped considerably this year. The stadium is also not what Super League should be about. You have to draw the line somewhere and I think they'll be in trouble come 2012 if there is no stadium.
Salford are out if they don't get the stadium, simple as.

| Some posters are failing to grasp the significance of the RFL letter and related matters.
During this month SL clubs have seen some proposed minimum standards being set by the RFL re licence applications. This is not re the point allocation system - it is the minimum requirement before a team can even apply. So if you do not have 12K (up from 8k last time)capacity and 5K seats 9 up from 1500 last time) and most under cover you wont be able to apply. These may change but as a majority of clubs can reach this standard and the RF want it there may be little scope for movement. especially as a few non SL clubs have / will soon have an appropriate stadium.
Letters of intent, developer press releases and council weasel words wil not be sufficient this time.
Clubs were told when licences were issued, they have now been told one year later. there is no room for doubt. The RFL did not like the embarrassment of stadium deals flopping soon after clubs got a licence. I doubt they will let it happen again.

Cold Hard Facts are that those that need to know know how much they need to know.
I know that these things are all happening behind the scenes. I do not have £20m in my back pocket - hence the terminology used, but we are well aware of what, and when, we need to deliver.
You, or anyone else, making oppinionated judgements on any of these clubs will matter not one jot in the final counting - and I for one will rejoice in that one, simple, FACT!

I wasn't being ignorant. I genuinely didn't know what the craic was, and I genuinely thought (and still pretty much do think) that a groundshare in the best possible facilities would be the best way to go.
Any mention of a merger is just paranoia IMO.

I think it is easy for those on the outside to say that those on the inside are just feeling paranoia. That may be true, but I don't think that it is completely without foundation to be honest.
When the RFL offered £1m to clubs who merged it was clear that they had not intended that money for the clubs that did merge. I would reckon no1 on the agenda was Wakey / Cas and no2 was probably, at that time was Widnes and Wire.
It may the chip on my shoulder, but the salt & vinegar are never far away!

| I think a shared stadium would make sense purely because the council shouldn't be paying for 2 stadia so close by.
However if I were a Cas or Wakey fan I wouldn't so much be suspicious of a merger more that it would end up being one or the other.

By the sounds of things mate, the two clubs are going to have to come up with the financing themselves... which would cause me some concerns if I was attached to either club.
I know wakefield have this trust thing but that is a hell of a lot of money to have to pull out of your in this climate.
The council have pretty much just provided some collateral on the loans that would be needed. They make some money from the sale of the ground / land.. but that would only be a fraction of the total cost.
If they have got somewhere near the money then fair do's to em.
If the council was involved in one of the projects that would give you some confidence but trying to club together the cost of a project.. even one like the LSV.. would be some task.

I noticed neither press release mentioned anything like an expected start date on the builds which would be the one thing to calm the nerves of the Cas and Wakey fans. This is nothing more than the type of news that we became accustomed to in February, March, April, May, June and the beginning of July last year.
Some nice little comments without any actual weight behind them.

Not quite sure even still what that means...
I'm sure the council can withdraw their land from this offer if they so wish. It's not been gifted has it? i.e. you couldn't sell it to anyone?
From listening to the radio piece it sounds as though you are still some way off yet. Detailed designs still need drafting?? That is going to take an absolute age isn't it?
Just typical RFL friendly sound bites to me. Hopefully you will progress from here (and I do mean that as I like Cas and wouldn't want to see them or Wakey miss out) but you still seem miles away from having anything tangible to take to the RFL as proof that a stadium is going up.

| there is no way that Saints will be ditched, it'll just be a ploy to hurry their plans along
Cas/Wakefield/Salford are in danger though, its a race to get those stadium plans turned into reality...because Widnes can feasibly match their attendances and have a better ground.
