| Once the bigger ticket items start to sell up. The smaller ticket items will become more into focus.
It would be madness for sales to work any other way.

| A question about the opening game.
What's with the bottom middle sections on the East and West Stand.
They are greyed out as in not for sale.
Is that because they are not on sale YET, or are they the corporate and press sections. So will never be on sale?????
The first seems crazy, the 2nd makes the stadium look like even more of a sell out!

USA should have a couple of decent players, and it now looks like they'll be picking from the entire domestic player pool (both USARL and AMNRL players), so that should help. I doubt they'll be any match for Scotland who look a really strong team, still going to the game though.

Great news, gotta give the RFL credit for this decision, I thought playing the game in Cardiff was a shocking idea but i'm glad i've been proven wrong. Don't forget that Cardiff Council have paid to have the game there too, making this a good money-spinner for the RFL, and a sold out Millennium Stadium would be a massive start to the tournament.

From a business point of view?
1. Free TV access to all England games DONE!
2. Other games available on mainstream platform FAIL!
3. 350,000 tickets sold to games ONLY 57% THERE!
4. Mainstream sponsors announced including a major naming partner FAIL!
On point 3, The RFL are relying on walk up ticket sales.......let's discuss the Challenge Cup and Play-off ticket sales in recent years and how that's gone for the RFL shall we?
I'd now have books of 1,000 tickets delivered to every school within 10 miles of a RLWC venue with the promise of 50% of the ticketed revenue if the sell them all.....
From a sports point of view?
Cracking games of RL between the lesser nations and whomever makes the 4 with the top 3 to put the frightners on Aussie in the semi!

Fair enough...how about some PAYING sponsors then?
Hertz are a rental car PROVIDER and Marriot are a PARTNER......neither will be contributing funds to the RLWC kitty.
Other WORLD CUPS have MICROSOFT, HEINEKEN, LANDROVER, SONY, BUDWEISER, COCA COLA, EMIRATES, VISA, CASTROL, MASTERCARD, CASTROL, CONTINENTAL, HYUNDAI, SKODA.
The FIFA Women's World Cup in 2011 received €25,000,000 from local/national German sponsors alone...with only about double the attendance expected at the RLWC.

this it the RLWC ticket sales thread....last official word was 200,000 sold out of a target of 500,000...72 days to go. 55% of the tickets are under 20 quid......they're between 2.25 and 8 million behind in sales. I am not complaining, I simply stating that they need to get jiggy with it and pronto!
As for London....if the rumours are correct, London will be bankrolled in 2014 by the other 13 clubs before dropping out of SL in 2015 with a view to building a self sufficient entity in North London. A real shame given 18 million in TV cash and a further 32 million from investors and sponsors, as well 9 million from the long suffering fans (both of us) over 19 seasons will essentially have gone to waste as a direct result of the RFL's reluctance to follow the lead of the NRL and News Limited.....who bankrolled Brisbane Broncos and Melbourne Storm and turned the NSW RL into the Eastern Coast game.
Tony Clubbs 4 tries v PNG is not what I would have called a fair ROI on 60 million

contributing funds or saving expenditure. Not knowing the terms of either agreement it is difficult to say, but if Marriott are putting up all the accommodation for the teams for the event, that is a major expenditure that the RLWC kitty wont have to fund. There isnt much difference between getting a £1m in cash sponsorship to spend on hotels, and getting £1m in free hotel rooms.

| I really don't see the issue. There is no point comparing this to other World Cups in other sports.
You can never compare like with like when comparing competitions.
RL is what it is. It can only do well compared to it's own standards. Admittedly they are lower than what we would want, but wishing it does not making it happen.
There are a few polls on different sites and there are still a lot of people yet to buy.
In games like football, people have to buy ahead, or they would miss out to the richer folks who can buy ahead.
In RL, because the spectator population is smaller, the quantity of those with enough spare cash to buy ahead are smaller.
I'm sure there will be some walk ups for some of the matches, but I can't see many walk ups for a game a Wembley. If you are travelling distance you are going to want a ticket in advance, but in this day and age, I would not buy more than a couple of weeks ahead for anything. Even my daughters Birthday party which as a family comes in way ahead of anything RL wise, was booked with only a few weeks to spare, and places for those are far more likely to sell out.
