I can understand why Stains don't bother with updating the ground, afterall they couldn't even sell out a semi last year, what was it 18k that could be bothered to turn up at Kogarah? lol.

| loak all you want you won't find him, look at Kogorah and Win you are far more likely to find him at these antiquated, undersized grounds. NRL shouldn't allow sub 20k grounds in teh league, it's embarrasing.
NIB Upgrade - STAGE ONE $82mill >>>> Kogorah upgrade $13mill
NIB>WIN>>>>>>>>>>Kogorah
After Brooky and Leichardt, Kogorah is the worse ground in the NRL.

Would love to see PNG in the NRL, however you have to say there would be security concerns.
This article in the Guardian gives a rather frightening picture of Port Moresby
www.guardian.co.uk/world/2004/se ... idfickling
However its not as bad as Cape town or New Orleans
malumnalu.blogspot.com/2009/01/i ... world.html
It would merely be a case of ensuring that players and officials could be kept safe, without being robbed or shot at etc.
In some ways having an NRL team could help generate wealth and investment in the city and country.

They are the only expansion team who will not be able to sign current NRL/SL players (who is going to want to live there?) so where exactly will they get a squad from? They need to
A) Sort out who is running the game in PNG
B) Build a stadium
C) Get $10 million a year worth of sponsors
D) Sort out their jnrs (made a big step in this direction this week with the announcement of the countries first national jnr programme)
E) Develop 20+ NRL standard players
F) Build a visiting team secure village
G) Sort out an infrastructure for the club
H) Sort out a TV deal so there is some value add to the NRL
I) Find 20K PNG'ers who can affords the price of an NRL ticket
Then they'll be ready! Say around 2040?

lol if Perth get in theyll have the worst ground in the nrl
and you mock other clubs for bad grounds
this is why your credibility is shot to pieces
its a real shame the WA state government isnt as committed to RL as the NSW one and building a proper RL ground like the one in Gosford rather than making teams play at that dump the NIB
with a ground like the one in gosford the perth bid would only be stengthened

The irony being that Norths were kicked out of the comp as they didn't meet they criteria of not having a stadium. The reason? Rain affected the completion of the stadium you've shown.

| You have got to love PNG. It's just an awesome place.
I'm watching a documentary called 'Lost Land of the Volcano' about a team of scientists finding tons of new species in a volcanic crater in a remote part of Papua New Guinea. The lead scientist is talking to the leaders of a remote village. It's poor, it's destitute and it's children are dying of malaria as they have no money to pay for medical care or travel to a clinic. The village elders are sat there telling this tale of isolation and being cut off from the world and doctors in this remote village, yet a couple of them are sat in fully licensed current Sydney Roosters and Parramatta Eels tops.
GET THEM IN THE NRL NOW FFS!!!

| All you need to do is when a bloke comes at you with a spear make sure you have a pouch of tobacco for him. I guess you need to watch TRIBE with Bruce Parry when he goes to the remote parts of PNG where Canabilism is still practised to get that ref. [size=85(Yes, I do know that wasn't in Port Moresby)
[/size
Having said all that, I personally think it could eventually work in an idealistic way, if all the right things are put in place. Some people already have good vision, as pointed out by ECT, but I do have reservations about the place itself.
Then again, if a country as violent, dangerous, corrupt and as poor as South Africa can host a FIFA World Cup, then in a simplistic way why can't a sport start a team in a local small competition in a country that fits a similar description to SA.

to all the naysers ill pose some questions :
1. would this be good for international RL?

NZRL was a basket case until Mr Doyle came along. The current situation that has the Kiwis as World Cup and 4 nations holders has little to do with the Warriors.
