| Wow. I might have to change my opinion on Kevin Penny after watching the highlights.
Two run ins to the corner and outpacing the Salford backline from a set move.
Warrington do not need Gleeson, King, Monaghan, Briers or Morley next year. Kevin Penny can do it himself.
His speed is not in question, nor is his finishing ability. However, let's see his overall game. His kick returns, his defence, his positional play and his tackling, especially against big teams.
From what I've seen, he looks a one dimensional quick player with the potential to become an Anthony Sullivan like player. Now, that is a great feat in itself, but he hardly looks a saviour of British rugby league.

He is as good at defending as any other winger was at 19, we seen on Friday that even players like Gardner make mistakes, Penny has been pretty solid so far.

Did I miss the bit where he was lauded as the saviour of British Rugby League, or are you just wanting to court controversy?

Was a better player than Israel Falou when Australia toured England and France.
Very good prospect.

| Quote ="Mugwump"Neither Royle nor White have the natural attacking attributes of Penny. I don't mean pace. I mean balance, timing and a good body swerve.
That said, the above isn't worth much if he's a colander in defence. The days of teams being able to "carry" a defensive liability (or - the 80s) are long gone. Over the last five years we've seen clubs increasingly pressurise defensively weak players with an array of kicks, plays and running angles.
Let's see what Penny's like when he's got Willie Talau and Francis Meli steaming into him whilst he's looking to take a Sean Long bomb.'"
I was with you upto 'a Sean Long bomb'. Unfortunately we're now in fantasy land!

| Such a shame that people on here (rugby league fans) cant actually be made up and generate some positivity that this lad picked our wonderfull sport over basketball.
Everyone criticises clubs for not bringing through young talent but as soon as one does come through the player is being questioned for not being the full article at 19!!
No wonder other sports have a lack of respect for rugby league when rugby league supporters cant even respect a hot prospect.

It's got nothing to do with that. It's sensible posters trying to cut through the hype and remind people that it's far too early to be putting so much pressure on a kid who's not been exposed to the competition for a significant period of time. They're reserving their judgement until they've had the chance to fairly assess him. That's got nothing to do with criticising young talent and everything to do with being fair to the lad.

| He is in great form this year and is really making the headlines and i hope he keeps it up. However, we have seen others do the same. Next season will be more telling.
Last year Kirk Yeaman was a world beater, this year he has failed to live up to that reputation.
As they say, you are only as good as your last game (unless you're nobby and picking the Gb team)

Correctamundo. He is being out on a pedestal after six games. Mugwump said the same thing, unfortunately I was too short sighted to see the point he was making.
If we are still talking about him in the same terms next season, then we may have a genuine prospect, unlike a potential one.
