Getting 1k regularly would be a good start. The £7 offer they're running at Bramall Lane seems like a smart idea - crowds seem to be up by at least a couple of hundred over what they'd have got at Don Valley.

For what its worth I hope Sheffield get it together at bramall lane. Its the best stadium in the division and the little quirks of having a big screen showing the game with replays of tries is very novel for games not on TV not just our league but any league bar Catalan I think?

They just seem to be struggling to pull in the crowds and are not as good as you suggested. Maybe next season when they have settled back into their new home might the crowds pick up.

2000 at that level is good. Not many clubs that have been promoted drew alot more than 2000 leading up to their promotion push.

Take out the 2870 for the 1st game there against Featherstone as well and it's getting decidedly less impressive.

The Sheffield crowd was 3,950.

Wigan took over 2,500.

The city has 2 Unis and several colleges throw tickets at these people. plus Rotherham and Chesterfield near by target there football teams fans on game day with free tickets/flyers they have around 35,000 seats in bramall lane i believe!

Not yet,maybe in a few years time and only IF they can get established at Bramall Lane whilst hopefully improving the crowds to a pretty decent level i would say 3,500.

Lets face it yer average Sheffield punter does not go to watch RL

They have two teams in another sport that caters for their limited intellects ( in the vast majority of cases)

RL is too hard for them to grasp and understand

Sheffield have huge potential, but they aren't reaching it yet. They have all the systems in place: big premier-quality stadium, huge well-known catchment area, player pathways and academies in place, a bit of history, not had financial difficulties since reformation.

The crowds they are getting are improving, but aren't good enough yet. And their performances in the league have been average at best. Once they improve on their performances, they could be a real player. They just need a bit of investment to get there. That improved performance should increase the crowds.

It would be good if they got someone like the Hetheringtons back to fund them.

Posts like this make me think, why do we in RL put such an emphasis on crowds? In that post you've basically said that they have everything needed for a SL club bar attendances, and you would be willing to omit them on that reason alone. Now I'm not for one minute suggesting that Sheffield should be in SL, they are far from ready, but it's just interesting to think why for a lot of people matchday attendances are the be-all and end-all of a club's standing. Is that the reason we play the games, to attract people to watch? I guess it is, but there seems to be far, far less emphasis placed on crowds in other sports, such as football or the NFL.
