Could be a hell of a battle for the CC1 promotion places this year as none of them will want to be cast adrift, though presumably Oldham will have to do a lot of work on their ground to satisfy the new ground criteria for the Championship if they finished top four?

I think the Euro Cup is quite an interesting idea and could become quite popular if there is a decent prize pot to ensure the clubs take it seriously. Hopefully they will announce the details ASAP so that any fans wishing to go can get it booked. Not sure how it would work though in terms of it being a league format or straight knock out, with the latter leaving very little time to plan travel and marketing for those involved?

I would expect Coventry to get one of the new places in CC1 - I went there earlier this year when they played Warrington Wizards and there was probably 3-400 on at a fiver each so it will be interesting to see how many turn up at £12 each to watch what will hopefully be a much higher standard of rugby. Certainly hope it catches on although CC1 is virtually a nationwide competition already and the RFL don't do anywhere near enough to make a big noise about that fact.

As I stated earlier , the vast majority of new businesses have perfectly good busines plans , most are not worth the paper they are written on , especially sports businesses

The only year there won't be relegation (though there will be promotion) is 2012. If you're in Championship 1 in 2013 or beyond and want to move up a division, it will be via P&R.

I would be willing to bet that all of the people who think that this is a good idea do not support clubs in CC1.

The first season will be the hardest to get the new league off the ground and if one or more of the more established CC1 sides missed out on promotion in 2012 then even the one season at that level will be VERY hard for them. At least it means some meaningful promotion for once in RL

I doubt there are many in the Championship who see it as a good thing either , even though they have sorted out our problem with regards games , they have just put more problems on the C 1 clubs

That’s fine as long as the club lasts long enough to do that. We will hardly be able to build a promotion winning side on the back of the crowds we will get in the proposed league.

Its a shame that Bramley had a troubled season as I would like to see them back.

As for the list above. I would ditch Chester (what league do they play in) & Medway not a high enough standard. Oxford not high enough standard.

Hemel is a yes they have playing all over for years. Cov is good if they can keep it up. Notts should be in rather than Northampton.

As for Bristol would like them to step up to RLC and see how they do for a couple of years.

Why not 2 up and the play offs to decide the other 2 I wonder, the team finishing 2nd know they are up whatever happens but have to go through the play offs but the Champions do not.

It's probably for the best to avoid a situation of the 4th vs 5th Grand Final and the 3rd placed side missing out on promotion.

3rd still misses out as the 2nd place side would go up if the 4th v 5th game happened to be the final if the 2nd place club was included in the play offs or not.

Who said I believed the Leigh club ?

It wasn't the Leigh club that told me about not running an academy team , It was Bill Appleton and Lee Crooks , when they visited me in my capacity as Academy director at Leigh Centurions

They work . well Lee did at that time , for the RFL , so either they made a trip down to Leigh to tell me a lie , or I am lieing ? take your pick
