If we can't name any particular competition we should just name it after Animal Farm, the loveable romp about anthromorphic characters who start their own farm in equality, fairness and justice for all, only for some pigs to make the whole thing go pear shaped. They end up sacrificing a work horse to a glue factory and lying to the other animals about their decreased rations, the swine.

I like the sound of the co-operative championship,i just hope they stick around now sky have pulled the plug.The same goes for northern Rail.

The two should be merged back into one division. I don't think that they should have been split in the first place.

But will shortly be ending it's association because it is tied in to the SKY deal , no tv coverage on SKY , no Co oP sponsorship

I said from the start that the names are stupid. And they are. And what makes it worse is that they actually had a survey to name the leagues and this wasn't one of them.

IIRC, the choices were:
NL1 & NL2
Championship & NL1
Championship 1 & Championship 2

Seems like they just decided to mash two of them together. If that was one of the choices no-one would have picked it.

So who at the RFL has a history of picking names that nobody wants ?

I've said it for ages but what the Championships need is somebody to be appointed by the RFL with a specific remit to be the CEO for those leagues. Its obvious that Lewis and Wood are not interested, and so if we had somebody who's 'day job' it was to manage the affairs of the Championships we'd probably see an improvement. Let Lewis and Wood concentrate on the big ticket issues of SL and Internationals, let this person concentrate solely on the Championships.

As long as they have a budget to work with Derwent then yes , that is exactly what is needed

No thanks, we've got a league where the majority of games are close and competitive and gives the C1 clubs something to aim for. The bottom of C1 would get annihilated by the top Championship clubs and just wouldn't do anyone any good.

Nah, I agree with Red Robin, but let's take it a step further.... merge SL, CC and CC1 into one big league, each plays the other just once.

Just call them League One and League Two

They did , they had National in front of them , but because we were gifted a pet Fench club they had to change it , so they made it worse

They could rename:

Superleague to.............. SKY League
Championship to..............Lewis and Wood 1
Championship 1 to............Lewis and Wood 2

I'd dread to think the score between Featherstone vs Gateshead. If CC1 teams can put 70 past them I reckon Featherstone could put 100 past them.

I like the championship as it is, apart from you can't get out of it if your a good side.

Maybe the idea should be to have a National League 1 of 14 teams with the same format as Super League with the division below being NL2 for developing clubs like Gateshead, South Wales, Bramley etc. If a place has ambitions to be in Super League, this is where you start.

I agree, I'd like to see more teams in the championship. Although I do like watching the matches, espicially awaydays, I've already been to: Featherstone twice, Widnes 3 times, Batley twice, Leigh once, Dewsbury once, Halifax twice. So some extra teams would be good IMO.

Extra matches will also give extra income to Championship clubs. I think the RFL should be able to find 24 clubs outside SL, this would be ideal.

I'd really like to see:

National League 1: Barrow, Batley, Featherstone, Leigh, Dewsbury, Crusaders, Halifax, Hunslet, York, Swinton, Whitehaven, Workington, Sheffield, Keighly.

National League 2: South Wales Scorpions, London Skolars, Gateshead, Doncaster, Rochdale, Warrington Wizards, The Bristol team on Boots N All, Coventry, Hemel Hempstead, Oldham.
