| Quote ="Adrian"Biggest idiot I've ever encountered in a rugby league context was David Solomona during the GB v NZ test at Knowsley Road about 4 years ago.
He'd just come off after a stint, and as he sat down on the bench, a couple of teenage girls a few steps away from the bench started whooping and hollering their support, while some bloke further back shouted 'tit' (or something to that effect).
Solomona immediately turned on the two teenage girls and screamed "come here and say that to my face then, you b******". They were petrified, as you might imagine!'"
Just have to stick up for Solomona there.
On Wakey's first trip to Perpignan in 2006, a few fans were on the same flight as the players going home. When milling around in Perpignan airport, most of the players kept themselves to themselves, except for Solomona who approached fans, not the other way around, and showed them the stitches in his mouth. He could have kept on walking, but he made a point of going up to the fans unprompted. Monty Betham was the same.

| Have met Paul Sculthorpe a number of times and was a pleasure to meet. Even remembered me one of the times
Met Stan Wall in Perpignan in 2006, a true gentleman and talked to us for about half an hour.
Talked to Paul Cullen for about 5 minutes a few years ago, he was watching his son play in a tournament. Was really willing to talk to us, even though he was there watching his son.

| Funny enough being a Saints fan I met quite alot of the successfull Wigan team because of where I worked, the friendliest was Joe Lydon, great bloke and really funny. One of the best dinner speakers I have heard.
edit...
Nearly forgot about Keith Northey, he used to teach at Edmund Arrowsmiths in Ashton -in-Makerfield, he used to tell great stories about rugby, really nice bloke

Always had time for everyone and nothing was to much trouble right up until the day he died, true gent R.I.P.

The Willie Horne book was a fantastic read
Spoke to Jordan Turner recently who was very approachable and another ex-Salford man in Karl Harrison is a quality coach and person.

| Strangely enough, I always thought Agent Millward was a good bloke for a chat about rugby
Met Eddie and Stevo once, a bit worse for wear in one of the lounges at Wigan after a game against Bradford. Eddie was quite ignorant and walked straight through without acknowledging anyone but Stevo hung around and had a chat, really genuine nice fella.
Billy Slater gets bad press IMO, he didn't seem to mind having a photo with me in Paris and he hardly flinched when I wiped beer drippings off my hand down the back of his International blazer. Cheers Bill

| Schofield (before his gobe years), Dave Creasser and Roy Powell I remember as being really friendly, although I was only a kid at the time. More recently, Barrie Mac, Sinfield, JJB, Poching and Hetherington have all been friendly and willing to chat. Same goes for Cunningham and Jon Wilkin (they had just beaten Leeds at KR though so will have been happy anyway!) and Tonie Carroll and Mark O'Meley when they were over for a Tri-Nations coaching thing a few years ago.
Special mention has to go to Ian Kirke though, really nice lad always has a smile on his face.

| Almost all RL folk are friendly , players coaches officials and referees -
My all time hero is Mal Reilly - i was only a kid when he played but i always wanted to meet him - it took a long time but it was worth it - smashing bloke and a little bit shy which surprised me - he was flattered by me telling him how he was the player i most admired as a youngster but a real gent

| Was at the Hull FC BBQ last summer when Sam Moa & Lauaki held an impromptu touch rugby match for the assembled children.
Both players (along with Willie Manu) stayed long after all the other players had gone.
Nothing was too much trouble for them.

| Cant say i've ever met a pro RL player who has been anything other than friendly and willing to chat to fans of the game.
This isn't football where you cant get within 30 yards of the players !!!!

| Friendliest that I have ever met that I didn't actually know was Keith Hepworth . A proper nice lad . He even rang me at work on the Monday morning after the '08 GF to say he had seen me on the telly .
JJB . Ryan Hall , Graham Eccles , Lee Smith , Roy Dickinson , Steve Pitchford .. All good approachable gentlemen .
I'd rather not do the negative and slate the bad ones though . Might have just met them on a bad day . First impressions are sometimes the only impression you get of a person , and if it is a bad one it is remembered moreso than a good one .
Have to mention that Mr Carvell's mum , his gran , and his aunty Sandra are proper top lasses .
Special mention to Clinton Toopi . Nice enough bloke . Kind enough to have a kick about with the kids , but was a bit of a lad when it came to pinching the cakes .

| Got a picture with Richard Silverwood a few years ago when he refereed us in Perpignan. Was a sound guy and took time out to hear about me getting into the refereeing lark and gave me some great advice.
Shame he's such an ar$e when he referees Wire now.

| A few years back my little brother played for HKR Acadamy & then a very brief stint for the first team. A couple of times the first team came over to Spain, where I was living at the time, (I'd organise the accomodation). They were all great, some were more friendlier than others.
I'll always be greatful to Bob Everitt who walked me back to my apartment after afew too many shandies, it was a fair walk away from where we had been drinking, he was a true gent.

| Although i've not actually met him, Ryan Bailey seems like a really nice guy, a few of my mates that have bumped into him, only have good things to say about him, i dont know why he gets such a bad press. Some friends of mine, had the pleasure of bumping into him in the queue for a club in Leeds. he pushed in front of them, and when my mates asked him what he was doing, he very nicely explained who he was, and that he wasnt going to go to the back of the queue, and that if they knew whats best for them, they would let him stay in front of them.
Another mate of mine, was on his own, walking down a street (in the early hours of the morning) in Leeds city centre, when he bumped into Bailey. Bailey stopped and talked to him for a while, he told him to turn around and go in the other direction. when my mate explained that he was on his way to meet some people, and this was the way he had to go, and that he was a Rhinos fan, Bailey politely listened to what he was saying, told him he didnt care if he was a rhinos fan, and then gave him a very nice offer, making it clear that if he didnt turn around and walk the other way he'd regret it.
What a guy.
