| This is still going?!
I thought we'd all decided that JB was utterly envious, Rovers have only one less player over 30 than Hull (if we sign Prince, we're currently even), and have an average age slightly lower (if we sign Prince).

Typical one-eyed comments as usual JB.
Does it really matter how old they are, expecially to a Rovers fan? I don't give a damn how old they are to be honest. Poor effort.

Ryan O'Hara was 31 when he signed for you last year.
Lincoln Withers was 30 when he signed for you last year.
David Hodgson was 30 when he signed for you last year.
So that's three 30+ year olds you've signed in the last year.
Let's compare them to the three we've signed (or rumoured to be signing) this year:
Ben Galea (your club captain), Gareth Ellis (current England international), Scott Prince (Aussie test caps, Dally M winner 2010). The other two weren't 30+ when we signed them (Mark O'Meley, Aaron Heremaia).
So, err... would you like to rethink your statement? The only player you have that's over 30 that played for you before he was 30 is Jason Netherton.
Quote ="JB Down Under"ps I'd take Dobson and Burns over your two!'"
Judging by your previous comments, your rose-tinted spectacles seem to take away from any reasonable judgement. I'd rather see what others think about it than someone who criticises other teams before looking at his own!

I think you can call that, pretty much owned!

| Travis Burns has been a regular in the Penrith during the last 3 years and even though he's signed a 3 year deal with Rovers, he has been pursued by New Zealand Warriors to stay in the NRL (he has knocked them back and is 100% committed to coming to Rovers though).
I rate Holdsworth as FC's best signing and one of the best stand-offs in SL but Burns has a far superior running game and better defence. Both players are creative but in different ways.
Scott Prince was a truly amazing player a few years back and desperately I hoped we would sign back in 2008 before we signed Dobson but signing him on a 3 year deal at this stage in his career with injuries he's sustained in the last few years is a massive risk; two broken legs, a broken arm (twice) but more worryingly a bicep tear last year - if that goes again he'll be finished because the strength and conditioning work required for a full recovery at his age would just be too much for him.
That said I am genuinely looking forward to him coming to Super League (even if it is for FC) but I'm glad it's not us that is making such a gamble - I'm happy we've got a 26 year old proven scrum-half with a long kicking game and a running game - 2 things that seems to have disappeared from Prince's repertoire over the last couple of years.
In a nutshell: 26 year old Dobson vs 26 year old Prince - Prince every time. But 26 year old Dobson vs 33 year old Prince with his injury catalogue - Dobson is by far the better investment.
Both the Holdsworth/Prince and Burns/Dobson partnerships both offer great creativity with ball in hand and short-kicking games approaching the opposition's line but Burns/Dobson definitely have the edge in terms of a running threat and long kicking game.
FC fans are on a wave of emotion at the moment to the point that they're blinded by Prince's name (understandably so) but some are failing to see that signing Prince at this stage of his career is like putting an 8th of your salary cap on the red of a roulette table three years in a row.
As for FC fans saying Burns is an "average signing", they are just stupid.

If Justin Morgan was confirmed to leave at the start of August, why would he be involved in the recruitment process?
The two Crusaders players were signed after Morgan was confirmed to leave. Basically, Rovers saw that Crusaders players were exempt from the quota and jumped at signing any they could regardless of age.
Hardly an "investment" like JB is trying to make out out the "youthful" Hull KR side. More like opportunism.
Quote ="General Zod."34 years old with a 4 year old reoccuring knee injury.'"
That still played 126 games in 5 years for you guys. That recurring knee injury sure slowed him down! He's only a back up to the back up anyway, behind Ellis, Tickle, Whiting and Westerman. He's there to offer some experience.
Quote ="General Zod."32 year old and injured for significant period last year. Could go well but his game play requires more physicality than a player like Steve Menzies so he's not an accurate yard stick.'"
Any player can pick up a significant injury at any time. Doesn't mean they won't recover or that they're recurring or injury prone.
Ellis has played 22-24-18-11 games in his four seasons. So other than a broken foot (which he's recovered from after being out for 15 weeks and was playing for the rest of the NRL season), he's not really has any significant time out of the season. Couple of niggles here and there which are part and parcel of the game.
Quote ="General Zod."33 year old with two broken legs, a broken arm (twice), bicep tear.'"
Scott Prince has barely missed a game in nearly 10 years. Bringing up broken legs from over 10 years ago is really desperate.
Basically, all you've got is a reaggrivated bicep tear because they brought him back too early and a broken arm. So he's missed about 25 games in 9 years (about 3 per season). I'd say that's a pretty good record. Played 22 games last season.
You can try all you like to paint FC's signings out to be injury ravaged crocks, but you're only highlighting your own envy.
If Hudge had the money, he'd have been after all of them.

| If it's true ( and no one is saying it is) he won't be the first or the last NRL player to do this. It's a ploy they have used since I started watching RL 20 years ago and was probably going on well before that.

Don't believe me if you want but as the outgoing coach and 'a current SL coach' to use the term this person used Morgan made a keep and get rid of list as well as the list of targets. When the 2 Crusaders became available Morgan advised them to be signed up.

Advised, but they weren't HIS signings. They were signing by the club.
Either way, we aren't signing Prince now anyways, which means we've got just as many 30+ players as you, and a younger overall squad.

JM was making the decisions so in a way they were.
Sandercock could easily have said no thanks for all we know.
I never mentioned Dad's Army all I was doing was stating that the club did use JM as the brains behind signings even after it had been announced that he was leaving.
