Outside of NSW and Q'land nobody gives more than a passing interest at SOO. I enjoyed watching Australia v PNG far more than I enjoyed watching Q'land hand NSW another ar5e kicking. Sadly its RL "fans" like you that are the problem, not the Int game per se. It is endemic of RL mentality and why one of the best sporting spectacles in the world is still only popular in a few cities on the planet. RU can sell out a stadium in Hong Kong, we can;t sell out 20k in our heartland. Matildas can get on national FTA live, Kangaroos are shown delayed so as not to clash with better homes and gardens or some other tripe. |

Well theres no use shooting the messenger, thats just how it is, i suspect i'd take more notice if it was a mid year test, thrown in around Origin time, all the best players would be fresh & in Rep mode, sadly, logistics dont lend themselves to this kind of scenario.
For so long, the Grand final has just signalled the end of the season, time to get out & do the things that you dont get to do so much during winter & the footy season, i'm guessing that if England somehow became dominant, there would be a big push for us to get serious again & more people would take notice |
