there was all the palava when our shirt was late... very late, but apart from that it's been good. maybe it seems better than it really is after years of patrick, nike, the club crap.

| Our shirts were months late and the first batch arrived pink instead of white. Kooga finally sorted it and the shirts are great, but it didn't exactly inspire confidence.

people moan about the quality of our shirts, but to be honest we have sold 14,000+ of them for the past 2 seasons and are selling £1million+ merchandise a year now, so ISC can't be doing all that badly.

No, that one was doing the rounds, but it wasn't true. That would've been truly ridiculous.

| Quality wise the stuff Salford have from Kooga is miles ahead of the gear we used to get from ISC. And we've had problems with both suppliers doing late orders and sub standard products.

We used to suffer the ISC sizing lottery, but now we have our shirts made by nike which means others suffer for our shirts and our design is gash.
I think that as a family game clubs should look to local producers with ethical policies and the cost of manfacture going to the local workers.
Not sure who that would be in the UK though.

I have suggested that all the championship clubs should get together and set up their own brand , Best way would be to club together and purchase an existing local manufacturer and then source inital batch purchases from abroad for best economy and then bring in the ' prints ' from abroad for assembley over here
Group purchasing would mean that all the clubs would actually make some income out of it rather than at present where very few if any make a profit from merchandising

great idea.
it's worth noting that proposals were made a couple of years ago for one manufacturer to sign a central contract covering all clubs. I think the companies involved were Puma, Steeden and another one. It ended up never happening because the prices offered were no better than what each club could get individually anyway.

| Is it me or are we seeing a pattern of companies who try to claim more than a few clubs...
Ellgren, Avec, Exito, Kukri, Classic in the NRL, ISC in SL & NRL.
Unless they're a major brand, they seem to struggle with handling more than one or two clubs.

That is the unanimous and only criticism heard of them at Fax. I always wear a hoodie underneath to fill in the gap but that might become impractical when (if?) the weather gets warmer.

But was this SL or Championship clubs
All the Championship clubs combined support only adds up to about the same as a Leeds or a w1g4n
What I am suggesting is that the clubs actually purchase a smallish british based manufacturer
I doubt it would need a lot of actuall cash to get a 50 % share in one at the moment especially with a potential 1/2 million quid a year order on the table as well
Stick with a few basic designs to start with and get all printing done abroad , have the initial start of season supplies manufactured abroad with top ups and specials put together locally
Every item sold makes money both for the club buying/selling it and for all the other clubs as well who are part of the consortium
You end up with a brand name and 20 outlets for that brand name spread out over the country
Possibly easier then to try to get bigger more lucrative sponsorship on every clubs shirts , ie you could approach say the Co-oP to have the main sponsor on every shirt for every televised game , ie 20 odd matches a year
The clubs then have an incentive to sell their branded goods to other local sports clubs be they footy, netball,RU,RL ,anything , making extra evenue outside of their main business of RL

i'm with you on this one. the more things we can do centrally, the better placed we'll be to excel in other areas.
the case above did concern championship clubs.
