Defo think we are much stronger team next year. Antonio will take some pressure of kopchak and Crabtree, as I felt when they went off last year we lost quite a lot of our grunt. Also Bailey will hopefully add another dimemsion to our attack and take some pressure off Broughy and Robbo and Ukuma tai will benefit from having his first pre season

As a saints fan we have improved. In key areas. The pack looks. Bigger we have more going forwards. But still have players that could be improved. In the halfs we have one. So that's better than none. The question for us will be centre. We have lost a proven strike player in meli. That leaves us with josh Jones defensively sound but may not be a game changer in attack. Percival great hands and feet. Some pace but a bit slight last year long term I'd hope he proves to be the ace we hope him to be. Or matty Dawson bit of an unknown quantity for saints fans. So we have improved but in two areas 6 and 4 we are relying on a player breaking through and a player breaking their own mold. Ie lance suddenly improving to a decent six with a kicking game or wheeler staying healthy. +3 or +4 depending on those two spots. +5 if they come good together.

Think a few of the saints fans are underestimating jones personally, you know jones made as many clean breaks last year as meli? And that's probably playing fewer games at centre (that's not to say we won't miss meli, I just think in other areas, especially early in the tackle count in our own half)

Other than that spot on pretty much! Quietly confident it'll be a very good year for saints

Bit harsh that. All those one man team comments at least will stop....but now what are we?

Without sounding biased I would say no change overall. (Players like Seymour and Sneyd could be revelations)

However our biggest change will be having a full season with Powell. That alone IMO makes us +1.

We've lost some very important players so its impossible for us to say we'll be as strong but I'm sure the lads will give it another good crack. I'm looking forward to watching what Bateman and Pettybourne add to the pack, what Bowen can produce at fullback and I think Sarginson could be a real surprise package.

Our biggest loss will be Richards goal kicking IMO. We won some close games on the back of Richards kicking and they may turn in to a few losses now.

On a side note I wouldn't be surprised to see another signing come in to add to the squad. Since the squad numbers were revealed Hansen has gone and Andy Powell and Lauaki are expected to follow.

It's a fair point but I think second row is where Jones' talants lye. I would not say I underestimate him. I would rate Jones as an average SL centre. Which from 1 and a bit years is pretty decent going. He is still young enough to improve even more. I just like him as a hard tackling second rower. He certainly seems to crunch people in the tackle well above his weight.

On paper it looks like we've gone back a bit but realistically Holdsworth, Tickle and Galea were very poor for us and O'Meley and Lynch's impact was going down hill.

The emergence of Shaul, Crooks and Lineham was a major plus and if Cunningham, Hadley and Wilson can show a bit of potential we could have great competition for places.

There's alot of good noises coming out of the club, i'm sure there is at most clubs, but with a new coach it could go either way. If our props get offloading we could shock a few people.

Think fax are stronger this year on paper than what we were last year. Still got a great pack of forwards with Tonks and Ambler, and best of all we have some decent half backs eventually with murrell who is just sheer class.and he is partnerd by simon brown who looks good and Ben Johnston who also looks a real handful.

I'm not sure London are -5. They were utterly dreadful last year until Soward turned up.

Not matter what they cobble together they cant be worse.

Interesting I really don't rate jones as a second row! As a second row I feel he's no better than ashurst or Dixon, and it's his angle running that sets him apart, which is best used at centre. His tackling stats are impressive though! 6x the number meli made!

He has undoubted talent, but I worry not being quite sure on his true position is will mean he never reaches his potential.

I'd say Cas are stronger.

Whilst the loss of Rangi has an impact, it allows us to work harder as a team and we have a very good strength in depth now compared to sides around us.

Like the previous Cas fan, I'd probably give us +1 and a good starting point moving forward now.

I think Hull KR are much stronger. Defensively we where really poor last year, Sandercock obviously knows this and has gone out and brought in two really strong defenders in Weyman & Costigan, and added plenty of grunt up front in Poore, Walker & Langtree.

Alot will depend on how Keating replaces Dobson but Dobson was also one of the reasons why we where so poor defensively. Ryan O'Hara joined Lezignan but was hardly a loss as he never managed a single game in 2013 and when one of your top earners fails to make an appearance then your already at a disadvantage before a balls kicked.
We can't suffer any worse with injuries although we've had a broken leg in training already.

The major plus last season for Huddersfield was remaining pretty injury free. Your spine played together for pretty much the whole season a luxury other teams wasn't quite so lucky with.

If that can happen again in 2014 then you'll have a great season.

The physio and rehab staff brought in by Anderson do an excellent job along with the conditioners.

What helps in 2014 is having Broughton so Murphy can do a great job at FB if grix is injured / needs to be moved. Also Connor is a highly gifted FB and is excellent at centre. Bailey will take pressure of our halves and has plenty of NRL experience at 6. By all accounts Kyle Wood is going great in training (cover at 9 and in halves) as is young international 9 Leeming. Also faiumu has played for the kiwis at 9.

Of course long term injuries to players like Lunt / Brough would hurt any team.

Cas will be a decent watch this year. Sneyd, Tansey and Dorn are all attack minded pivots with Finn steering them around. Clark and Milner will be better for having some more structure. Stay injury free and they can make the eight. Just if you lose a forward or two and it hurts the momentum to make the space.

I like the look of Saints though. Big pack, pacey backs and a genuine 7. All the ingredients of the saints of old. Keep Roby on the field, Wellens off it and they will be close

Cas have a big squad this season with plenty of experience - in terms of forwards:

Props: Lynch, Huby, Massey, Boyle, Fleming, Wheeldon.
Backrow: Millington, Mariano, Holmes, Gilmour, Hauraki, Martin.

Good close season fun, but when so-called experts look at it like this it always makes me laugh. It's not just about in and outs but also improving what you already have, blending them into a team and bringing kids through, and on all these counts Wigan have a massive +.

Leigh have 30 + players and ten props in total so ours is bigger and better this year

Rovers have a better pack and same backs. Big change is at 7. If Keating is as good or better than Dobson time will tell.
