Just reported over here on Triple M radio that the Broncos have sacked coach Ivan Henjak 2 weeks before the new season. Can't say im surprised tbh. He's been on the brink for a while.

Yup, I think Senior player power has had a lot to do with it. I guess the board would have had their eye on a new coach for a while, and probably secured him in the last few days. Wouldn't surprise me to see them announce a new coach in the next couple of days.

He was on a contract but was only paid out for 3 months and part of the deal was to keep quiet on why he was sacked? Very odd time to sack a coach too.

Crap gig to follow Bennett though. It would need to be a Bellamy type character to go to Brisbane, someone who is a strong personality and has a history of recent success.

brisbane 2 came out yesterday saying they want bennett as coach. since they cant come in till 2013 the broncos can snatch him early

Now Cullen has left the Broncos, nothing is standing in the way of a Bennett return. I'm not sure he would go back though.

There is no logic at all linking getting Bennett back for next season and sacking Henjak now. Brisbane could have Wayne signed and seasled for next year, and there'd still be no need to sack Henjak for this season.

Also, despite rumours that Henjak has 'done' something, the fact that the Chairman (someone I used to work for many years ago) has quit effectively in protest speaks volumes - i.e. he belives Henjak has been shafted.

Despite what Lockyer has said I think this has come down purely and simply to Henjak's unpopularity amongst the players. What exactly has brought this to a head now I have no idea, but the Broncos frankly look foolish trying to claim it is as a result of a review of last year.

Not really a formality then.

I'll probably end up with egg on my face but I think Bennett is more likely to coach the new Brisbane team or even Souths instead of going back to his old stomping ground. He's achieved everything with the Bronx, there's no challenge for him there.
