Stewart isn't a has-been though. He was a stand-out player for Catalan in SL last season, he played origin and for Australia 2 seasons ago. And, at 32, he's not exactly over the hill.

As a newly promoted team, we need experience to compete. Stewart is a great signing for us. There's a fair few other SL teams he'd get into too

When there was 'licensing' SL clubs were given the chance you sign/young English/Welsh talent, and guess what, but they didn't, and instead 'chased trophies' and signed experienced/old antipodeans.

Glenn Stewart is a liar and a backstabber. He asked for a release for family reasons. That usually means he or his wife wants to return home. Catalans feels sorry for him and expects him to return to Australia. Instead he signs for an English club within days. What a deceitful person!.

Stewart probably left Catalans because they would not sign his crippled brother to play full back.

That would be the Glenn Stewart who's son has learning difficulties. He requested an early release from his contract for this family reason. His son has been struggling due to the language barrier and he and his wife wanted to move him to a school where the language was English so as to ease the pressure on his son. No lies there, he's been upfront about it.

Do they speak English in Leigh?
