| Video referee gave two tries and disallowed one in Tonga vs Scotland on benefit of the doubt for the tries or uncertainty for the disallowed. In all instances the video referee had not enough camera angles. The worst case was the try awarded to the Scotland full back where it was not clear that the ball had touched the chalk because the video ref could not see a side angle. Sky could have done better because they have more cameras.
Of course Premier Sports commentary with main callers Andrew Voss or Dave Woods, plus analysis from Brian Noble, Shaun Edwards, Robby Hunter-Paul, and Darryl Halligan, has been outstanding (the third English caller for the Fiji game was weak, and could not pronounce Civinoceva). But that does not rectify or have any bearing on the serious problem we have of referees getting the right decision on try scoring.

| It was pretty obvious to me that the Matty Russell effort hit the line. I think Ashley Klein was more of a problem than camera angles.

| Don't think premier sports supply the cameramen, think they just commentate from the pictures, like the game at millennium stadium was simulcast on bbc and both images pictures where identical.
Hardly premier sports fault anyway, if the games where not on tv who would you blame then cos I'm sure there would be VR at the non televised games also.

How could you both be so sure if you had no side angle? The video referee wanted a side angle but couldn't get it.

| I believe the problem they have is not just lack of camera angles, but the small screens they have to use in the video van.
Talked to a Ref whose done both this and SKY and he said its like going from using a 50"plasma to a black and white portable comapring the 2 set ups

The Matthew Russell try [iwas [/icontroversial.
This was a game that was decided on uncertainties. It would not have happened in the NRL where Channel 9 and Fox cameras offer enough angles for the video refs.

The video was paused at the point the ball hit the line. I have no doubt the ball hit the line.
Now the try at the end of the game.... which arguably could have been given but wasn't was down to Klein, not camera angles.

| Bless.....most RL games are not on the TV, the number of 'tries/non tries' that were handed over to the video ref....ridiculous.
They should have the BALLS to make a decision, guess NRL ref's feel lonely without another referee.

A number of games in te NRL have been decided on an incorrect video ref call, we have seen it here with the Ganson call in the Hull derby at the millenium. Having loads of cameras will not guarantee 100% correct decisions by the video ref

This was a game decided by the players.
The decisions are down to the referee
The video ref is there to help with decisions not make them.
Otherwise you would say all the games not on tv are controvercial.
I was quite happy with the Russell try

some strange decisions by Klein all night, I thought.
I thought the double movement no-try was a bit harsh, and probably could have been given.
Likewise, the one a minute later that was given for the fingertip on the ball probably should have been disallowed, as he literally just scraped the ball with the end of his finger.
The one on the hooter was wrong. The ball was ripped out, in my opinion, and then it looked like the Tonga full back got a touch on it on the floor. At the very least it should have been a penalty to Tonga, possibly a try.

| Capdouoze (or Albert Rosenfeld, or Barry McKenzie, or League Freak or whoever) is just hurting as he predicted Tonga would embarrass Scotland and is now trying to find excuses to put a dampener on what was a fine Scotland victory.
You people keep feeding this worthless troll, he will still keep coming back.

Sorry to see your love of everything NRL & pure contempt for the rest is still afecting your judgment. Get real, Fox pay for those cameras the money genarated by the NRL makes it viable, The lack of support for international rugby mainly by your beloved Australians means the World cup is run on a tight budget hence a small fringe broadcaster getting the job as the BBC/Sky can't be bothered. Just be thankfull you got to see the game at all.

A penalty all day long but it wasn't possible for the Tongan FB to score as a Scottish player had grounded it well before he got anywhere near it.
